Am I missing something? New gear?

Hello all,

I have recently returned to FFXIV, I left just before the Leviathan patch hit.

I've been gathering to level some crafts and have just come across a hidden node as a miner.
I've gathered from most of these nodes before, but it appears new ones have been added.

The node I found (miner) was in Eastern Thanalan, the slot was 6 or 7, I've never gathered this item before, whatever it is.
My chance to "discover" this item was 0%
I'm in full HQ AF gear and have the pickaxe of the luminary. Am I missing something? Has new gear been added or do I simply need to meld the crap out of my current stuff?

I have;

Gathering: 323
Perception: 317

The buff on the node +5% gather rate, I think it was, if I had over 400 odd gathering, which is insane.

Please can you give me some advice on how to increase my stats even further?

They added 2 Star Gathering Nodes, and yes you need 408 Gathering to pick it up.

In 2.2 they added New Gathering/Crafting tools, and again new tools in 2.3

And you will need to stat cap your Gathering Gear from Melding.

Do you know where I can find the new tools? Or where the quest is to begin unlocking them?

You don't actually need to stat-cap your gear. You just need to make sure your Gathering is at 370 to gather Umbral Rock/Fragrent Logs. Once you have the new tool, you should just meet the gathering requirement. Umbral rock node is in Camp Tranquil, slot 7 at 6AM, once you get your gathering to 370.

And collect the new quests in Rev's Toll. You will run into the Vendor for the new tools, his stand is to the left of the repair vendor.
