Yeah going to have to second this. I have both at 50 and used to switch between them but I'd much rather have bene as a WHM than Lustrate. Lustrate works for a SCH but at this point only the most geared tanks would get more HP out of a lustrate than my cure 2s. 5 mins isn't that long of a cooldown.

I use Benediction whenever on whomever I can when it is off cooldown. I do alot of Circus Tower running and it comes in handy if I goof (I'll Benny myself after I get res'd to save the raiser's mana) or if DPS (new, old doesn't matter) goofs and gets asploded. I find myself using Benny more on DPS, and I'm sure some of the comms come from those I bring back from the brink of death! I don't make it a point to save it; I have enough confidence in my abilities as a WHM to perform adequately in most situations. After all, it is a tool meant to be used! I would save swiftcast (this I use constantly) knowing that a big AoE is heading our way for a Medica II before I would save Benny.

Don't come in here and start attacking someone because you don't like the idea of WHM being buffed. This thread was for WHMs to talk about if they believe benny should be buffed or not, not for people like you to come thrash on them when they do so. And this isn't any other game, this game is balanced around its current CDs this is FFXIV not WoW so stop trying to compare the two. P.S. You clearly never play WHM if you would willingly take benny over lustrate if the option was given to you.

Actually i do play both healers and healed in mmo's for over 10years. And i am of opinion that a full instant heal is one of the best if not the best tool you can have. Be it on 5min cd or an hour. And yes, i would easily take bennediction over lustrate.

Oh and like you said, this is a discussion between WHM's so i have every right to discuss. I agree the "insane" part was a bit overkill but it was more used as emphasis rather then insult.

I love Benediction. 5 min cooldown isn't even that long.

I'd rather just see what we get in the next expansion rather than argue why White Mages should get Lustrate and why Benediction sucks in comparison to it. It only sucks because you don't see too much use of it aside from dire situations; however, when those dire situations occur (I.E difficult progression content and savage coil learning), it helps tremendously.

Pushing that aside, I'm glad Benediction has way better use than certain skills from other classes--Freeze and Tri-Disaster. Though they're okay in certain situations, you rarely ever see them use aside from PvP or players who are spamming it for the hell of it.

My only problem with benediction is that it's labeled as instant cast, when it's really not. It really seems to take almost 2 seconds for the spell to actually cast, which can be very annoying. There has been many times, for instance, where the tank suddenly gets in a pinch and gets walloped to the brink of death. I immediately cast benediction and it takes just long enough for the tank to die right b4 it goes off. In addition, it automatically tabs you off the tank. Since you casted the spell with no one targeted, that means of course that you waste the darned spell on yourself. Has anyone else had this problem? IMO, if anything needs to be fixed on benediction, it's the cast time. I would LOVE for them to make it ACTUALLY instant.

Honestly, it cuts both ways. I'll give my opinion as only a WHM and not a SCH because I've never been one. When I have Benediction and use it, if I have to use it again I'm always surprised to find it off of CD already. That just reflects a person's healing ability though. And when I'm level synced and don't have it, I find myself annoyed that it's not there.

I think the CD time is fine. I can say that without having any SCH experience, just WHM.

Benediction is perfect, it's a once per battle emergency cooldown. WHM have a highly potent healing CD in divine seal which can be used multiple times, and our normal heals have great potency both for single target and AOE heals. Pure healing throughput of WHM in a clutch with CDs activated is insane - any buff to benediction would reduce viability of scholars.

I think the best way to practice Benediction use would be - and I admit is a good way - to practice using Lustrate. It becomes second nature once you've practiced enough and it's easier because you have 3 lustrates per minute.

Though I do have point out that both Benediction and Lustrate will cancel out should the person of whom you're trying to heal dies. The reason why it goes off (and I can somewhat confirm this) is because you're usually spamming the button. This causes the spell to target whatever you had targetted at the time and use it - and in this case, the dead tank which cannot receive healing so it will immediately default to your character.
