Friendliest server for new players (Starting over with a fresh character)

Hi,

I have been healing for a long time and just feel its not the role for me anymore, and want to go Lancer or Monk. I have decided to start fresh so I can enjoy the main story quest and get that feeling of discovery again while I level up.

So my question is what servers are the friendliest to bran new players? I will be starting at zero with my only advantage being that I have leveled up before.

That's really a tough question to answer since there's so many people playing FFXIV now. Also you get a different perspective of a server depending on who you talk to. Personally I think Balmung is a friendly server. it's the unofficial FFXIV Role play server, so I think that may help a little with people being a little nicer to one another. I haven't noticed huge amounts of trolling and disrespect going on. Only problem is, it's a pretty full server so it might be tough to create a character on. You have to try during NA off hours (midnight - 6am CST roughly).

Thank you for the reply. I prefer roleplay servers a lot when I play MMO's so that helps a lot in my consideration.

While Balmug might be very nice server it has also other points to consider - it's (former) legacy server plus the "cost of living" there is significantly higher than on other "younger" servers - both due to the mature inhabitants as well as FC houising pricing etc. If that's not a concern for you though you would most likely love the helpfull community there. Overall - each server has it's bad apples and depending on your own preferencies you might find one more suitable to your needs that others might not prefer so it's really hard to give generic advice on this.

I don't really RP, but I've found Balmung to be pretty friendly and welcoming.

But like the last poster mentioned, market prices are definitely higher there. (On the other hand, you can use that to your advantage). If you want to roll a character there, try around 8AM PST--seems like it's usually open around that time.

If you do decide to come to Balmung, I hope that you have a good experience and if you need someone to help you get situated, just shoot me a friend invite. I'm on typically mon-weds 7pm-11pm CST and randomly on the weekends.

I am not unaccustomed to just dealing with using vendor whites when I can't get something from a dungeon. So if this is a consideration based off wanting to be well equipped at all times, that is not a problem for me. Thanks again for the replies. Sounds like you're no stranger to the game, so I think you'll do just fine. I've not played healer much, I tend to stick to tanking jobs.

Yeah, that's the part of healing I hate the most about endgame.... extreme stress and pressure. It's made me reconsider what I want to play, but DPS and tanking just don't appeal to me x.x

if it makes any difference, jenovah is pretty great. its young enough that elitism hasnt set in as badly as in some worlds. the FC im in, we run whatever and we mess around a lot. we dont get mad because someone stinks, we just like having fun. in general, the community is fairly nice. if you join up with the people, every world could be great. there are people everywhere that are helpful and nice, you just have to find them
