Entire servers are blacklisting each other and launching real life threats over hunts and you present hunts as a way to make friends. Still, I don't think they are bad but I don't agree about them being the only way to attain i110 gear outside SCoB.

I'm sorry but I simply disagree on how this content should and could be done and what makes it enjoyable. I'd prefer it being done in small groups of maybe FCs or LSs or friends or strangers competing and cooperating with each other. I'd like it to be actually hunting, as in people scouting the zones and competing to be the one whose group finds it and claims it first. I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to team up or play this content the way they want to play it (as long as it doesn't involve exploits). I don't need everyone agreeing with me but I also don't think others should dictate the way I or anyone else wants to play this content. You are what's wrong with hunts. Now listen. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having members from your FC in your party to do the hunts with you, having fun and having a good time. But.. if even with those FC members you still don't have a full party, you should fill it up to be a full party, it doesn't matter if it's with randoms or perhaps some non FC friends you've got, if you even have any. There are likely several other parties out there all looking for the same Hunt monster and they all want to be able to fight it and kill it, and get the full credit for killing it.
I don't claim nor does my party claim marks someone else but us have found. We stand there and wait for someone else to make the pull. The only time we pull is when we find the monster and there's no one else there. To ensure we get full reward from the monster we found. What ruins the NM hunts are parties that arrive at the NM and immediately engage, while other people are being told about where the NM is since they found it at the same time or before hand and were actually waiting on others to show up. And because of a handfull of greedy, impatient people, multitudes of others arrive only to find the NM died just before they reached it.
Yes, the person / group that gets the claim always gets credit. Also the full parties getting to spot in time will get full credit. The big groups doing their own pulls (when they haven't found the mark) and resetting the monster remove the full credit from claiming person / small party. Resetting is griefing and should always be reported as such. Now, there might be this workaround for small non full parties, that if they get the claim they can still get full credit?
However, if the people who find these things, no matter if they're solo or in a party, are allowed to make their pull, and then everyone else and their 200 closest friends in full 8 person parties are there to attack, everyone does get full credit. No one is doing others any harm in that situation.

It is only fun when you reach the marks on time before they melted.
When I heared Hunts were introduced I was thinking. "Yeah, I could get into that. Get a mark, get a few friends and then go hunt a mob." I was convinced the mobs would be instanced in the overworld for everyone who took a mark. I thought to myself "You probably have to read the information on the hunting board closely. Maybe you need certain times, areas, classes etc. to spawn the mob for your group. That would be fun!" While S ranks kind of do have that mechanic, the dumb zerging and hostile atmosphere it creates it absolutly disgusting. Hunts are just like god damn fates all over again just with another coat of paint.
And making the rewards 110 equip is absolutly flabberghasting. Yes, you do raise the average item level, but people pass on the most important thing Coil can give you: Experience. There will be a mass of player who are really good at zerging stuff down but can't execute raid mechanics to save their life.
Why is every player that's currently logged on entitled to every hunt mob that ever pops? Curious.
The only thing I can think of because since they pay a subscription fee there entitled to it over some else money eh but who really knows it just bad attitutes in general you can shout were the monster is wait 5min and start and still get blasted by pricks. Are people suppose to wait for the entire server to come kill a B rank monster I start to question gamer morals at that point lol.
I've noticed people are actually namecalling and trash-talking others in /shout for pulling B-ranks too early.
B-rank marks especially are NOT designed to be fought with an alliance, much less with five full hunt LS's. So trying to publicly shame someone who "only waited for his own party" (one example) is quite ridiculous.
I like em. I've missed my fair share of As and Ss. I still got enough to round out my mnk and casters gear(other classes will be geared when coil unlocks) while waiting for a few scob drops(if i ever get lucky enough to get em b4 it's unlocked). Got plenty more to even get the whole maelstrom DoW glamour set and DoM chest. When I miss some marks I feel a little disappointed( esp when I see it die b4 my eyes right after i get off my mount but b4 i can atk lol) but I just say oh well and move on. Hell I barely hunt now cause it was getting monotonous.
They're not going to stop spawning, the rewards will be significantly reduced with the progression patch 2.4, and forum posts will be back to complaining about weekly caps.
Seeing the absolute crucifixion, harassment and mass blacklisting of anyone who pulls a mark "without hive mind consent" I am very, very much against this content. It's fostered disgusting behavior between players and it's beyond appalling.Glad you like watching people get harassed.
It differs server to server, timezone-timezone. Jenova is actually a really polite server with these hunts (until US afterwork hours lol, I'm on GMT mornings/early afternoon). Most will wait for people to arrive, call out in all linkshells, in party chats, FC chats, and we ensure everyone is doing the same. We give everyone lots of notice about the mob, give everyone time to get there (even if in another zone entirely to start with). Someone rush pulls the mob, we let them die, reset it, ask them to wait for people arriving, and raise said dead person.
Put into that the awesome people you meet along the way, the great ideas for clothing / glamors you may not have considered etc, and you've got a pretty good community going on.
As far as effort v reward ratio. Not too sure on this front. I appreciate having a good way to farm soldiery/myth/sands/oils. But it does break my heart a little to think of how much time i put in dungeons before hunt was implemented to get i90+.
And duty roulette? Pfft, what's that. Now i'm all for helping people with their duties, if i get a tell, or a friend asks etc. But queue into a dungeon, which can take ~40 mins, with complete strangers, who may or may not be total asshats, for a minimal reward of 100 myth. Or, go do hunts for an hour, cap myth, cap soldiery, buy sands or buy a complete i90 set for another class. It just makes sense.
Not that I'm happy about it entirely though. New/levelling players must be suffering. But, it's just not worth my time to do the roulettes now.
