So far, all my experiences with hunts have been positive. I've seen a couple of small arguments at peak times, but no dramatic raging or calls to blacklist. After reading so many complaints here, I was nervous about participating too much - especially since I'm not part of a LS and my FC is kind of dead, so whenever I find a mark I have to rely on shouting it and hoping the random people that appear aren't a bunch of zerging jerks. But I've met plenty of nice players, and feel like there's a good atmosphere of cooperation on Lamia.
The only complaint I have is on the technical side of things, with marks disappearing so I can't target them. I just have to make sure I've got Stoneskin on, scuttle over to where everybody else seems to be aiming, and throw out a couple of Holys before I get smacked in the face. Which is fine for most A ranks, but uh, not sure about the S ranks.
If you in a good linkshell and fc that is constantly getting NM, of coursed you enjoying it. For less unfortunately people it a lot of stress and will get left out. Often times I find an NM, ask for invite, but instead bunch of Zerg people come and I get 5 Seals.
Then you have a problem where a certeins Linkshell and FC dominant and monopoly the area where when you come to an NM it died in seconds. Words get thrown out, name calling, dead threat, blacklist, etc. I don't see what so fun about this at all.
I like the idea of hunts. I love getting in a group and racing to the Elite Marks, fighting them and killing them. That's fun.
But on my server it's only fun at certain times. There are times of the day where players actually wait a little bit before pulling mobs, even on B ranks. But then there are other times of the day, when the "kiddoes" as I call them, wake up and start doing hunts with zero patience and a complete greed mentality, these are the times it's not fun. Not when you are still on your way to a location along with 20+ other players and by the time you arrive at the mob it's either dead or you get maybe 2-3 attacks off on it before it dies and end up getting only a small fraction of seals as a reward. All because someone pulled it and didn't bother waiting for anyone outside of their immediate group to arrive before fighting it. Those times it's not fun, nor worth the effort of going to the mob.
I understand that apparently it's not like this on some servers, and then on other servers it's like this all of the time. It's a bit of a 50/50 on my server, but once it starts getting bad you just pretty much have to quit and participate later after the "kiddoes" have all logged off. Then I can get back to actually having fun with the hunts with people who understand patience and respect.
A Rank Elites = 4 man PT to take down (originally solo)I like the idea of hunts....(but) Not when you are still on your way to a location along with 20+ other players and by the time you arrive at the mob it's either dead or you get maybe 2-3 attacks off on it before it dies and end up getting only a small fraction of seals as a reward. B Rank Elites = 8 man PT to take down (originally 4)
S Rank Elites (very rare) = 8+ players to take down.
There is absolutely no reason to "wait for the horde"... in fact players not in a massive Hunt LS are hurting themselves if they do so. Meanwhile the "Hunt LS Hordes" get full credit for just a few hits because the Healers in those parties spam spells which clog up the screen with effects which causes the Mark to disappear and then no one outside those PT's can even target the damn thing let alone get any credit.
The "Hunt LS Hordes" are monopolizing this content and (many) are benefiting with very little input. I'm pretty sure this is not "working as intended". Sure it's "fun" for those of you getting full credit but it's not fun for everyone else and telling them to join a Hunt LS is not the solution.
I however, do have a possible solution... allow multiple (2 or 3) Elite Marks to spawn at the same time (in different areas of the maps, of course) to even out the playing field a bit and spread out "the horde".
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Easy fix: Go to your settings and turn off all battle effects but your own. Having trouble seeing the mob? Be PLD, turn on Shield Oath and spam flash where the mob should be (look at the direction where people are attacking)Meanwhile the "Hunt LS Hordes" get full credit for just a few hits because the Healers in those parties spam spells which clog up the screen with effects which causes the Mark to disappear and then no one outside those PT's can even target the damn thing let alone get any credit.
You like them?! Blasphemy!... BLASPHEMY I SAY!!! T'is an outrage! With all the complaints... I feel like there should be a post for those of us that are actually enjoying hunts.
On my most recent character, I didn't hit 50 until about a week after hunts hit. But I found a nice FC, someone in there helped me get my first hunt LS, and then I found two other hunt LSs as they were being formed and so not full yet. Before the LSs, I just PFed hunt parties.
The whole time it's been great. That awesome feeling when *you* are the first one to find that hunt mob and no one else is around yet. Big ol' monsters just stomping around with no idea what's coming. Let your party know and they all form up, then they let their LSs know and the crowd starts coming.
So to SE: thank you. It's a blast! I hope there's more open world content that encourages ad-hoc partying to come ^^
In all seriousness though, it's refreshing to see someone take something as is and have fun with it and others![]()
Don't let your guard down, the "mind hive" will learn to do the 1 -> 2 -> 3 priority thing.A Rank Elites = 4 man PT to take down (originally solo)

I think the easy would be a cap on the seals, so all ppl can get the marks done on a full week, that would "fix", no more zergs, mobs will be alive more at the end of the week...
It's the ones who like dungeons who don't like hunts, reason is because less people flag up for dungeons and rather chase down NM's and most hate being kicked from dungeons because of their gear or because nobody likes the way they play.
So yeah those people probably want hunts to die off so they can continue the trend.
If only people defending hunts would stop for a moment to take off their blinders, they would see what a terribly broken and obnoxious system it truly is. Unfortunately, they are too probably too busy frothing at the mouth with seals and tomes to realize it. A conversation with a guildy of mine sums it up best
Me: Don't you find the hunt system broken
Him: Of course
Me: Then why do you still do it?
Him: Cause you know Joan, once you start doing it, you can't stop.
Then it hit me. The hunt system as it currently stands is no different from drugs. The high you get (in this case the massive amount of rewards) is just too good to pass up. The people defending it probably realize it as well, but are afraid that this new toy will be taken away from them, even though it's harmful side effects are apparent for all to see.
