Too many people killing at once, making it too easy to kill, harder to get credit. Keep it simple; if you get there, it's yours to engage whenever.
This. I very much appreciate them adding open world bosses for us to find and kill for nice rewards. The only thing I don't like are the massive hunt LSs roaming around zones in groups of 50 people destroying all the marks in a few seconds. The content would be much more enjoyable if it was done in small groups and in spirit of both competition (for finding and claiming marks first) and cooperation (for sharing marks with other small groups getting to the spot in time).

Because of the above, I haven't even tried it out. I'll just wait until SE makes further adjustments. I'm enjoying the new dungeons well enough, anyway.

I like them, but they still need to limit these reward to spread the population across the week and to adjust the item costs/potentially remove logs or limit them to 1-3 per week and increase the bill rewards, specially for the weekly; maybe add 1 log + 50 Allied Seals as reward.

The overall idea behind the Hunt is good, but the actual implementation is not in several ways.

Not to mention all the bad behaviours it generates because of said flaws.

So, your core opinion of this gameplay element is completly compatible with the complains currently happening.
I'm not saying hunts are perfect by any means... but to contradict what you say, I have seen a number of posts saying "remove hunts from the game" or something to the effect like it was a terrible idea in the first place.

To the poster about reward/effort, well. Since I only have 450 tomes thanks to the weekly cap, I only have 1 piece of soldiery gear. I don't have enough Allied Seals to upgrade it yet. My weapon is still only... i55? i60? Hunts aren't helping with that, I'm working on other progression to try to improve my weapon. For the toxic behavior... well, don't participate in it. Be friendly! I can say that the odd person here and there raging in shouts isn't in any of my LSs or parties--they're pretty chill about the whole thing.

So yes, hunts aren't perfect. I'm still glad they were added to FFXIV, and they've added a lot to the game/community for me.

I bet the hunts were intended to be an "If you happen to stumble upon a mark whilst doing something else..." addition. If this is how one plays, then you'll enjoy the hunts.

Not the typical ocd steamroll through content as fast as possible server first woot gimme gimme loots you pulled too soon wah wah. If this is how you play then you are a forum ranter.

I think your strawman would wear this necktie I bought very nicely.

These people are either saying it in a way meaning "Remove them... so you can fix them and add them again later", or they are just idiots.

So, in short terms, yes, Hunts are very good as a concept, but they are currently completly unbalanced compared to other content, and the "Zerg Horde Rush effect" is clearly not what was intended.
And I think most people agree: once fixed, this will be great.

Even if it's not being used as intended, I think it's pretty great even now. You can get into it as a fresh 50, no "exp/clear required", no "wipe=kick", no special connections needed. No waiting on the duty finder. No lockout timers. Party members don't get angry, people just cooperating/coordinating searching several zones. It's something you can just do and make friends. Have fun trying to find the marks, get the kills, and so on ^^

I'm part of a large hunt linkshell, and I very much enjoy the experience. My linkshell is huge, and we communicate very effectively about NM locations, but we're absolutely against early pulling. In fact, we kick linkshell members who are caught pulling early.

While I don't blame parties who just run up and pull NMs without waiting for more people, I also think it's kind of a D-bag thing to do. The system is set up now so that if you're in a party, and you're there at the start of a battle, you'll get full credit for the kill like 99 percent of the time. There's really no reason to pull early except for 1) impatience or 2) being a D-bag. I understand that some people want the thrill of "low-manning" content, but let's be real... the vast majority of early pulls simply result in the horde arriving slightly late, meaning you don't really get to low-man anything (all that really happens is a lot of people get deprived of myths/seals, and most of them aren't the idiots crying/screaming in shouts).

B rank early pulls are inconsequential. S rank fights kind of suck for everyone already, seeing as how the mob isn't even visible to most people.

For A rank pulls, though, there's really no good reason to pull them early, unless you're just really trying to be an Eorzean Hipster.
