Before I get started on what I believe will happen and this live letter, I want to take a gander at some of the other "Live Letter Themes" in comparison to this one.

All the themes never once mentioned "Future of FFXIV".

With that aside, let me tell ya what I think the Future of FFXIV means.

1) Expansion talk is possible (If anything though will only maybe get a name, rest will come at Fan Fest).
2) 2.4 and 2.5 talk is highly possible of being there.
3) Lots of photos to be shown.
4) Major changes that will likely occur by the time expansion hits ( or at the expansion) EX: Changes to the battle system, Harder mobs in the open world ( wishful thinking.
5) Roadmap seems possible, as if 2.5 is the last update before 3.0, That's only roughly 8 months away, now is a good time to show us what they plan to do up to the expansion.
6) Maybe a Player's Poll to gauge how we as the community are enjoying the game/if we feel changes should be made in certain areas.

It could be anything really, but one thing is for certain though, if they were to want to talk about 2.4/2.5 or strictly 2.3, they would have simply not added " Future of FFXIV".

To close, I feels there will be a lot more to see than just "what were going to get in 2.4/2.5.

What are your thoughts on what you think were going to see and what you want to see out of the "Future of FFXIV"?

I said "Possible" not for sure.

I bet on the roadmap to pop up more than the expansion. This doesn't seem like an ordinary Live letter.

Edit: Also, the word future screams roadmap to me :P.

When I first saw the title I assumed they were fishing for a particular question. Like they want to announce something potentially negative but instead of just coming out and saying it they want it to be a response to someone asking for it. (Something like shifting to an entirely hardcore or entirely casual focus instead of splitting the difference, or going free to play)

Maybe the title of the equivalent Japanese thread doesn't sound as foreboding.

I kinda agree, it could be a subject based on them choosing a side ( Hardcore or Casual). Because ya know, you can't please them all :P

What I want to know, regarding to the future of FFXIV:ARR, is when we will be able to fight Yoshi-P and his full party of FFXIV Team Directors. I'd sub for life if I got to take their NPC-selves down. Down... far down... way down. SO DOWN.

I think the expansion title is A Realm in Peril or perhaps that was just for E3 pre show stuff.
