    Question about link accounts

Don't know where else to put this.

Since I'm suffering a bit playing through my toaster (bosses like Titan EX are next to impossible with response delays), I was considering a PS3 or even 4 option. I tried looking it up and I've gotten difference answers; If I link my PC account with a PS3/4, do I still get game time added?

And I also saw that PS3 players get a free upgrade to the PS4 on some article, but cant for the life of me find it on this site. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/...om-ps3-to-ps4/ Is this definitely the case? Say, if I purchase the PS3 version over PSN store, can I still upgrade it to PS4?

between ps3 and ps4 , if you want avoid lag take ps4

I started ps3, and upgrading to PS4 was a whole new world, able to see Odin , behemot and all the players

    about upgrading to ps4 :

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/ps4/ps3_users/

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn PlayStation®4 Upgrade Campaign

Users currently playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn on PlayStation®3 are eligible to upgrade to the PlayStation®4 version starting April 11, 2014.

    * Purchase of the PlayStation®4 version is not required to upgrade. Please be aware that after transferring to the PlayStation®4 you will be unable to play using your current copy of the PlayStation®3 version.
    * Please note that after completion, the upgrade process cannot be undone.
Users may upgrade free of charge via the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station.
    * Users must first register the PlayStation®3 version to their FINAL FANTASY XIV service account before upgrading.
    * Upon completing the upgrade process, a PlayStation®4 system will be required to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
    * All FINAL FANTASY XIV service account data including characters and in-game items will be carried over upon upgrading to the PlayStation®4 version.
    * Users who wish to play on both the PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4 must purchase a separate copy of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation®4.
    * The upgrade campaign will be offered from April 11, 2014 until December 31, 2014.
I think the free month would be added to your account if you link a version to your existing account. But can't confirm.

Don't purchase the PS3 version on PSN store - it's much cheaper to get a hard copy - in UK less than £4. Once you register this copy on PS3 and login to the game at least once using the same SE Service account you're using on PC you can upgrade it for free to PS4 version via Mogstation. And yes - you'll get another 30 days of sub added to your account - for less than £4 it's actually cheaper then cost of the month sub ... After the upgrade you can actually register another PS3 copy (if you'd purchase two) and get another 30 days of sub All for about £8 ...

For the time being, I don't really have a "choice" between PS3 and PS4. I only have a PS3 on hand and honestly, 4 doesn't have that good of a lineup for me to justify picking it up over one game for now. Though another option is checking if my friend has a PS4 I can borrow. I heard that once you upgrade to PS4 you can't go back, but it's not too much of an issue for me anyway considering I only need to play on something better than my rig to deal with something like titan EX and higher-end DFs.

You can "go back" by registering another (PS3) copy of the game to the same SE Service account which for £4 is well worth it plus after that you can ply on PC, PS3 and / or PS4 anytime you want.

How is the performance on the PS3? Although I guess I can't really be too picky; my toaster currently never pushes past 15 even on lowest settings, and Titan EX is impossible because I can't avoid weight of the land.

Edit : And to add onto this, I tried looking up some comparisons, and it's collectively that "PS3 verison is the worse ever!!!!" sort of deal, with people saying its unplayable or staggers a lot.

I put up with this on my Toaster rig like i said; Fates and S rank take forever to load if I'm not the first one there, and Titan EX is an impossibility for me. Is the PS3 really that bad that I'd run into similar issues (primary in DF/ Titan EX) or would it be passable with 30 frames?

Forget hunt zerg/odin/behemot on ps3. You will not see the zerg and think you are the only one. But this lead to trouble if you must target team members as they tend to disappear/reappear.

I lagged on titan ex on ps3, avoided landslides but weight packing was a nightmare. But some don't have the issue so this one is a gamble.

PS3 works great on the vast majority of content (i.e. where there aren't a gazillion players all crowding the same spot). Most of the time, its performance is nearly indistinguishable from PS4. It does however take just slightly longer to load the presence of mobs and players, and sometimes in crowded situations this leads to there simply being too many for it to handle properly. (Though it sounds as though your current system has this problem even worse.)

As far as PS3 being "the worst ever!!!!" no. It's worse than a high end gaming rig with all the latest and fastest components. And it's worse than the PS4 version. But it may be a middle ground between what you have and what you'd ideally want.

I'd say go ahead and purchase the PS3 version. (As mentioned, hard copies tend to be cheap now. And you do get a month's worth of subscription time with it anyway.) That lets you try it out on the system you already have and see for yourself whether it's enough better to satisfy your needs. If it's still not good enough, then you can look for other alternatives.

Oh, if you do end up borrowing your friend's PS4, be sure not to accidentally link your SE account to your friend's PSN account. You'd need to set yourself up as a second user on his console but with your own PSN account.

I was playing on PS3 since the release with almost zero issues and once my hard drive in it got "corrupted" beyond capabilities of repair feature of the PS3 I've decided to replace it with 120 GB SSD (nothing new, just an unused spare piece I've had laying around for several years) and since then I was usually the first to load up in the instances / dungeons. Once I've got PS4 I've replaced the hard drive with new SSD and (leaving asside the higher resolution and PC like HUD) the performance increase is not that big. So - comparing to most low or even midrange (non "gaming") PC PS3 is actually doing quite well.

Thanks for the inputs. Got the PS3 version, though I'll most likely keep it to DF and trials (grinding/farming just feels "more right" on a laptop/PC).

Is it possible to emulate using a keyboard and mouse control-scheme on the console versions? Jumping right into gamepad with a level 50 (plus cross skills) is incredibly frustrating, especially the targeting.
