Why have Vote Kick if it's almost entirely abused?

I guess I just don't see that abuse happening. I've only used it to dismiss people that are either AFK or Offline. On the rare occasion when you have a tank that refuses to actually even try to tank and doesn't listen to "hey, use flash? and enmity combo?" I've personally never used it for "abuse" and have never even seen someone else do vote dismiss inappropriately in any group I've been in.

The shameful thing about vote dismiss... apparently there is no penalty to those that are dismissed. I've kicked an AFK person out only to have them rejoin the group seconds later by using join party in progress.

That is the other issue with the vote dismiss feature. Even if it doesn't give them a penalty for joining another group, it should block them from rejoining the same group. Couple weeks back I was doing a ST run. We had a whm that just stayed afk at the entrance. We vote kicked, they came back, stayed at the entrance. Vote kicked, they came back. And the process repeated again and again til we were stuck with them. And the story ends with the healer body dropping, them need winning it, then remaining afk til after Xande was dead. A report was filed, likely several. But who knows what came of it?

There are some abuses of votekick (for example just before a loot in CT I saw it, or for not enough justified reasons, fails or mistakes are not reason enough if there is good intention.) But I think vote kick is needed if someone gets d/c and doesn't come back, or for the very rare nasty misbehaving one. There is a 4 hour (I think) wait for starting a votekick if you already started one, so it is impossible the same person can use it too frequently.

This system has seen almost nothing but abuse since it's inception.

Personal Opinion...

I jokingly comment that Overpower and Flash typically prevent that. "Oh well, he's a dragon now" was the extent of my sarcasm before being vote kicked.

Sarcasm is hard to transport on a written only media without face expressions and such... you know, your behavior can someone count as harassment, thus, your kick would be totally legit...

While commenting on every flaw might seem okay - even funny - to you, it might annoy others... Put a line under it, and don´t QQ cause someone didn´t want to play with you anymore...

I agree that this gets abused. My recent experience was in Halatali HM. I said before the cutscene even loaded that I hadn't done this dungeon before, and I needed the fights explained. No one explained anything until after I got killed by 1000 tonze swing. Got killed once by Demon Eye, and booted.

If someone asks you to explain the fights, and your response is to boot them, that's B.S. At minimum the abandoned duty timer needs to not be used against you.

The only times I've used Vote Kick is for people who disconnected or went AFK without warning for 5+ minutes, and this one particular troll/idiot bard on Aurum Vale yesterday who *systematically* attacked every mob I marked to be put to sleep by the WHM and/or marked #2 or 3 while I was attacking #1, after being called out for it thrice. Without the feature I'd have had to leave the party myself. Why should I penalize myself because the DF paired me with a griefer?
