You can't really compare WoW gear to FFXIV gear.. WoW characters have about 1/10th the amount of detail that FFXIV characters have, so it takes a LOT longer to create the FFXIV gear. Also, uvmapping was often terrible in WoW, whereas in FFXIV it's generally decent.

That said, the clipping does get a bit out of hand at times.
