Now, there is a bigger problem with constantly re-releasing/re-skinning exclusive content beyond annoying my delicate sensitivities.
At first it sounds great, everyone gets to have everything in one way or another, but the more you do it, the less effective these exclusive campaigns will be. Why would someone bother take part in your 'limited' promotion if they can just count on you releasing it again later? The pressure to join up and take part is gone. Right now, this is fine for PS4 and steam members who came in after the fact, but it would be wise to avoid hyping up a so called 'event' item if you're just going to hand it out periodically.

What will it be now ? Want the dalamud minion ? The "I beat levianthan" T-shirt ? The incoming Fanfest goodies even though you didn't go ?

They're different to in-game events, though. A game where it's very easy for them to repeat events, it would kinda suck for them not to answer the community and repeat it. As for the Dalamud minion, the T-shirt, and the Fanfest... that's just a total different thing entirely. :|

sadly they're not.

Dalamud was from soundtrack CD, Tshirt from E3 or Japan Expo in France, Fanfest... All happen only a few times, so they're exclusive. OK we agree.

Now what ? Lightning event. Reason behind it : FFXIII-LR is released, first in japan (1st event) then in NA/Europe (2nd event) and... that's all. There isn't even a HD remix edition to back this 3rd event. Thus either this reiteration or the first 2 have absolutely no meaning. And it's totally dumb in both case.

So the problem here is either :
- So called exclusive items are not, and all other "exclusive items" should become available by other means (Mog station for minions/mounts "exclusive" ?)
- SE is trying too much to comply to every whine because "I missed this event it should come back just for me".


As an example, I could use the recent soccer world cup. If SE had made an exclusive event for it, would you support new players from 3.0 who would whine because they couldn't get the wind-up world cup minion ? (totally made up example)
I hope you wouldn't, because it would mean that the entire event was meaningless.

The same applies for LR. Or at least should have applied. The only "mistake" they did was the level requirement to finish the event, as people starting to play when the event was live felt a lot left behind a content they should have been able to do (every other event is lv15+, LR was 45+ to finish)

i see it more like a recap of the special event in the year, next years for the birthday they will probably do the same for the special event that was while the 2nd years.
it allows people that have miss in the years to have one last chance to get it.

I also vaguely recall Yoshi-P saying in an interview that characters from other Final Fantasy games can not appear in Eorzea if they are either dead or their story is complete. As Lightning Returns pretty much ends the story for Lightning, the return of this event kinda doesn't make sense... especially as anyone who has bought and played Lightning Returns finished it months ago.

PS4 players should get at least one chance at this, imho.

That being said, what do you bet there'll be an announcement of a FF XIII COMPLETE HD REMIX for PS4 come August? xD
