    question on questing

my plan was to all along to do every single quest in the game. so my first class i took to 50 was a summoner doing JUST the main storyline, the next class i am doing is a level 30 blackmage.

i already got all the other classes up to at least 20. Now like this blackmage i was going to do just the quests in ul'dah and thanalan or the quests that start in those areas.

the other dps classes i would do in their respecting starting cities and surrounding areas.

kk my question is, i started picking up quests in Uldah at level 30, there are quests i can see that are red and not ready be picked up. Each time i level will i have to return to uldah to see if there are any quests to be picked up once i am of level as well from the surrounding areas?

the only reason i ask is because you have to move into the area to see available quests on that part of the map or is there another way? because i have quests that are level 38 43 and such far above my lvl 30 blm..did that happen becaus ei have one class at 50 already?

Yes, that is why. Specifically what sidequests are available depends on progress through the main scenario and other sidequests. However, fansites can prove hamdy to see what unlocks when and where: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Category:Quest

    Try this link:

    http://xivdb.com/?search/!filters/IlFVRVNUUyI=

This will allow you to filter quests by level so you can see when you need to go back to unlock a specific quest.

Just as a heads up, if you have a level 50 class nearly EVERYTHING will show as unlockable, but you won't be able to turn in the quest on a lower level class until they are of the correct level to do so.

Or you can initiate the quest but not complete. Then you can track via the journal. This doesn't apply to levys as their is a penalty for changing class for completion.

The red quest icons should constitute most of the quests that are there but you can't complete because of your level. There will still be some that get unlocked form doing other quests, however those primarily chain with themselves so you should notice.

For the ones that give the red "unavailable" icon, you can talk to the NPC to see what the requirements are. That should give you an idea whether it's something you'll want to come back to soon or ignore until much later in the game.

I'm actually trying to do the same thing, though I don't have my first class at 50 just yet. My concern: can you level yourself out of being able to do quests? For example, if I get all classes up to, say, 30, will there be some low level quests that I can't accept because I'm too high? Or is it just a minimum level to accept a quest and not the other way around?

    You cannot outlevel a quest.

Might not be able to outlevel a quest, but I can bet you the XP won't matter and the rewards won't be needed at a certain level for every quest.

What I've found to be best is to leave quests for every interval of 5 levels (5, 10, 15, 20, etc) spattered around the realm as you quickly surpass the level requirement.

This is to say, don't keep doing 5th level quests when you're already 8th. You may want to level up a new char that will actually benefit from that XP/loot reward.

This method helped me level up a lancer to 15th in VERY short order (less than 3 hours) so I could open the monk quest for my 30th pugilist and keep trucking on leveling that.
