I really don't see how this would be "counter productive" as you call it. Some fans of the game, like myself, were greatly opposed to adding AA. We believe it would make combat less interactive and boring, so adding an option as i suggested would alow people a choice to what combat system they liked best. Why should only one group of fans get what they want, and the others be unhappy? that seems more more "counter productive" as you call it, than what i suggested.

How is this interpreted as a joke? I'm merely posting an idea i had, if you don't agree with it fine, but calling it a joke only makes you look like a jackass!

Between the attacks we used before AA and many others from several classes you can keep yourself occupied enough to where AA just fills in the gaps between WS's. If you base your combat around more than just one attack you can be much more efficient than you were before AA. At first i was against AA but the more i thought about it I would have more opportunity to cycle through action bars planning my next move while still gaining TP. Not to mention you can get get yourself out of some dangerous situations being able to pop abilities and not have to wonder if you have enough stamina.

AA may feel slow to people but just think of what possibilities that brings. Enhancer classes, haste spells/gear, multiple attack weapons, all the things that make you feel powerful. Personally i wasn't a haste fanatic like most people were on XI so i would prefer this game to be focused more around weapons with multiple attacks. Many options out there to speed us up. Maybe SE will come up with something new and innovative. "SE did that before and look where we are now".. shut up, no inventions were made without a few failures first.

This battle system isn't going anywhere so its best to just figure out how to make it work for you. Be creative!

I'm in the same position you were in! I'm thinking of quitting, because AA is a boring outdated combat system. How is that right? That's why my suggested idea makes sense, we'll both get what we want that way.

I can see where you coming from and respect what you are saying, but no matter how you spin it AA takes away control from the player. What's the point of playing a game if most of the work is done for you, it just doesn't make sense. You may think i'm just not giving the AA battle system a chance, or not wanting to give it time to improve. Well, neither did people give the original battle system a chance before they bitched and demanded a change.

You can't go and make blanket statements like that. Perhaps you feel you have less control with AA, but I feel I have more control with it. I have control over strategy planning, movement and placement, counterattacks, pretty much everything I couldn't do when I was forced to keep mashing basic attacks, which consequently forced me to stand in once place. I couldn't even take the time to watch for evades so I could counter. Maybe I'm just not as skilled as some people. Maybe that's why I feel a sense of freedom in battle with AA that didn't exist before.

And yes, people will bitch no matter what. Such is the nature of humanity on the Internet. Separate those who are just bitching from those who have valid suggestions for the game, and you'll find a good portion of them who believe that AA is the better way to go. Not because they didn't "give the original battle system a chance," but rather had well thought out arguments about the benefits of AA in the battle system. But it is hard to see through the sea of bitching and moaning. That I can understand.

I don't really count mindless button bashing as being involved. A slightly slower pace where you think about your actions and use strategy is much more involved in my opinion. x.x

But anyway, it would take way too much time to balance the game to two different combat systems and instead of a patch every month we'd end up with a patch every two months or something...that's assuming you could even balance the game to two combat systems, personally I'd give up and put my head in the oven halfway through trying.
