Why pay for more character slots

This idea seems ridiculous and is a blatant attempt at more money per month. I'm already not paying past the first free month but still...if i want my girlfriend to make a character I have to pay more than $13/ month?

Also a few more things here. The tutorial is terrible. 'Nothing' is explained in this game with a tooltip or at least some window explaining how it works. Like the stats in the game for each character. I had to research this website on what each one does. why cant there be a tooltip for that in game. Or for the magic stats; such as what each one is. What are umbral spells consisting of..fire, ice, wind...i dont know and nobody should unless they played FF XI. These things need to be stream lined more.

Why cant i change video settings in game??? A simple process like this has been made inherantly annoying. I have to quit the game and change the settings in a seperate window in windows.

in uldah there is a book on the counter of the thaumaturge's guild that explains the elemental property's of umbral and astral magics. there are many little things in this game like that, that people either miss or they don't think exists because there use to the magical MMO tooltip that magical appears to tell the brain dead masses that the little sword icon is for attacking a target.

i like books that explain the fundamentals of the game, i think they should add books to fill in some of this games badly missing lore....but im sure you'd rather have this cut scene the kicks in your door and explains things to you for 4 minutes, keep in mind if you skip it you wont have a dame clue what that big blue blimp things for.

you cant change crucial settings in game because they are Separated by EXE's you have FFXIVboot.exe(starts the logon and creates a secure connection to the lobby server) FFXIVGame.exe(starts the game) And FFXIVConfig.exe(which configures the parameters for use with FFXIVGame.exe)

it also eliminates the need for a external Configuration file which is usually modified in other games to gain an unfair advantage over others.

its only 1 dollar per additional slot....id understand if the game in question only allowed you to chose one job and stick with it. however in FFXIV you dont have to make 8 characters to get every class in the game. so i don't know where your going with that.
