No. BLM isn't about moving and casting. Stop trying to make things easy mode for yourselves.

Don't need to mash it. Simply pressing F one will make you automatically track your target.

I d'ont think people were asking for anything dramatic, just the nerf to scathe some time ago was certainly not needed

I disagree. I rarely use Scathe because I just flat out don't need to move that much. If you learn the fights and work with your static, you won't find much of a use for scathe. Its very situational and you don't need to use it in your main rotation.

I figured I would see a post like this after posting my thoughts. XD I get it though. I actually do quite fine with my set up atm. I just have to take into account where I am when things are moving so I don't get spell canceled. I do however, still think that adding mobility to at least fire 1 isn't too much to ask, especially if they nerf the damage somewhat while in movement. I only say this because, there is still a large majority of BLMs who are not comfortable just standing still and getting the most out of their DPS and the use of Aetherial Manipulation is at a minimum it seems. (I'll be honest, I am even bad at using it to it's maximum potential and need to work on this.) This still hurts our reputation, though and the ability to get into groups other than duty finder ones later on. Recent patches may have fixed that issue though.

Another reason I tend not to use scathe is the mana used up by it tends to mess with my overall rotation, at least if I'm having to move while in astral fire, which can actually cause me to lose more dps than if I didn't use scathe.

About the only time I really use scathe, and I mostly do this while already in umbral ice, is when killing spumes(? whatever they're called) in Levi Ex while dodging Levi dashes and being slid around by him rocking the boat, since you can cast Scathe (and any Firestarter or Thundercloud procs) while sliding across deck.

Not exactly correct. There is a period about 0.5s from cast completion where you can begin moving and still have the spell finish successfully.

This is an essential part of playing any caster well but is essential for a good BLM. And a major reason why the average BLM still does poorly (way too much movement).

A agree a lot with this. Scathe really is only meant as a last resort. It doesn't do enough damage to warrant using it in a rotation because of the CD. (aside for rare scenarios when you want to get damage in because you misjudged how much mp you had to work with.) That being said. I have found it useful for finishing off left over plumes in Garuda's fights and getting credit for fates when I am farming ATMAs and having to solo against groups. XD
