Yes, the Novus breaks the established secondary stat caps on basic(Soldiery) i110 weapons... but only if you put enough Determination and/or Piety on it.

When push comes to shove, the difference these stats will make is a increase of perhaps between 0.5-1% in performance over the Soldiery weapon if the Novus is fully optimized, so it's not worth fretting too much over. It's still kind of dumb though that there is an imbalance between some Novus weapons, other Novus weapons, and the Soldiery weapons even though they are the same item level.

Yes MND is highest priority, however not at the expense of key statistics.

    42 MND vs 45 MND
    31 DET vs 22 DET

    HA heals +6~ more...

You lose out of so much more PIE, DET and gain what, Spell Speed. For practical use, HA isn't an optimised weapon.
Also, Weapon Damage Trumps. It trumps EVERYTHING. That's not 3 more mind you're dealing with, that's the equivalent of 19-20 more Mind. That's what makes High Allagan BiS for everyone irrespective of Secondary Stats.

Just a warning to whoever reads this (as a side note, not against his main point). Whenever someone says Det is Worth X crit you can automatically know they are wrong.

The value of each changes based on the amounts of itself, and all the others you currently have. Any X=Y valuation has clearly been done at a single static value point, and misses the complexity of the relationship.

Determination has a far greater diminishing return then crit or spellspeed. Furthermore its value decreases with WD and MND.

For example. If for a hypothetical ability 1 Det added 1 Damage. If your current damage is 100 (due to WD, MND and DET) its a 1% gain. If your current is 1000 its a .01% gain. While a given % increase in speed or crit chance would remain constant in this example. You can conclude the better your gear gets the less DET is worth.

The point system for gear clearly doesn't change based your ilevel. While they may adjust it later,to use it to explain valuation is silly.
