Thinkings about the Novus Weapon...

Hi there,
Here i am today for some little maths, and some concerns about the Novus Weapon !

So, we are all okay to say that to make your novus weapon, we will be able to split and use 75 points of secondary stats points on the stats we want to.

But.. thats kinda odd, because 1 point of X isnt equal to 1 point of Y in this game ..

Concret Example: based on Crit/ SpellSpeed /Deter.
In this game 24 Crit Points Equals 17 Deter Points.
You can figure it out on i-level 90 items, some items are the same but one got 24 crit points and the other one 17 deter points. So the items are supposed to get the same "power".
Exept that we are using 24 points in one case, and only 17 in the other case ...

Concretely as WHM (But its the same idea for all the other jobs i guess):
1 crit = 0.119 hps (0.119 of efficiency).
1 SpellSpeed = 0.157 hps (no efficiency).
1 deter = 0.148 hps (0.148 of efficiency).
1 piety = 0.138 hps (0.138 of efficiency).

For "normal stuffs", 24 crit = 17 de deter, THEN
CRIT : 24 Crit = 24 * 0.119 hps = 2.856 hps.
DETER : 17 deter = 17 * 0.148 = 2.516 hps

==> CRIT > DETER for stuffs with the normal conversion of points.

Besides.. with Novus, converting is completely useless, you just need to take the stat with the best efficiency to get the more powerful weapon.
As WHM, we have :
31 deter.
33 piety.
11 crit.

As a conclusion, i think thats this system is kinda odd and it appears that the novus weapon is clearly superior to a basic 110 Weapon.

PS: Don troll my HPS values, they are calculated on my old i-level 90, but still, the values scales with the new i-levels.

Thryus Novus is BiS for White Mage hands down.
I'm not sure about your maths, and I don't have time to check them (I might do after work)
But;
11 Crit = 0.80% Crit Chance.
11 Det = +2hp per average heal.
Both bleh.

Spell Speed > Crit.

Yes MND is highest priority, however not at the expense of key statistics.

You lose out of so much more PIE, DET and gain what, Spell Speed. For practical use, HA isn't an optimised weapon.

What is your concern? Based on the time and effort needed to get a Novus weapon vs getting a UAT and sands (made far easier in 2.3), I think a Novus weapon should be better (or potentially better) than the soldiery weapon.

Then it is like a 110+ Weapon.
But some people will spend their points without even thinking about the no conversion system on the novus.

To sumup, it is really easy to build a crappy weapon, but with some little interest on the stats, you are able to build a complete OP weapon.

To sumup, it is really easy to build a crappy weapon, but with some little interest on the stats, you are able to build a complete OP weapon.

Well the thing is that, especially now, a soldiery weapon is far easier to get. The other thing people often forget is that secondary stats make up a small part of your output. So while the Novus can be better if built right, it's still a minimal difference.
