    Suggestion: Keep current NPC Quests as "General" quests, add Class-Specific Quests

    Hi, I'm new to the boards, and haven't been following the news/plans on the game over the past months. 1.18 now has be back into the game. My current highest rank is 23.


    Over the past 4 days or so, I've been sinking a lot of time into doing all the NPC quests (I haven't done ANY yet), and I've been greatly enjoying it. However, doing so has only raised my rank from 21 to 23 in the process (while doing rank 20 leves in each town as I go).

    I know there is a lot of balancing to be done, and content to be added, but I feel that one major requirement will be Class-Specific quests, so that once you start a new Weapon Class, you will have new quests to do as you rank up. Now that I know there are Quests available every few Ranks, I can't imagine myself wanting to work on a second class in the near future... since all the low level quests are now done, and it would be back to leves only... or grinding field mobs.

    Perhaps this is already planned, and I'm darn sure it has probably been said here 50 times.. but I feel that S-E really needs to add quests that are unique to each Weapon-Class, and as many of them as possible.


    Edit: Forgot to add...

    I feel that the quests should naturally only be issued by the Class Guild... so... perhaps... to accomodate travel to the requred city for new players (suggest which town to select at character creation, but it should perhaps not be enforced), perhaps offer a Tele to the required City (For Rank 1 jobs only) with a 48 hour cooldown (one cooldown only, not one for each class). That should help it not be abused for fast-travel. (I know that suggestion sounds kind of stupid, I'm just throwing ideas out there.) After a player reaches rank 10 with a specific class, he/she may then be expected to travel by foot to the required town areas (if never visited before) to perform tasks in those areas.

    Issuance, combat, and cash-in of these quests should be restricted to the specific class (naturally). This will likely require being locked in for 30 min countdown during the combat sequences, where player is not able to change Class.

    There's already class specific quests (one at 20,30, and last is 36 currently) and they aren't planning to add any more till jobs get here they said sadly Won't be using marks either to get abilities like classes^^ They'll be done via quests This'll be great if they do it right!

    Edit: Also remember them saying they'll be adding AF type gear and class/job specific quests for those as well ^^ Hope this helps, and welcome to the boards

    Class-specific quests have pretty horrible effort/utility ratio. You essentially create quests that only a fraction of the population will ever do.

    Repeatable content can easily take quests' place. Chocobo escorts, hamlet and beastman stronghold battles, leves, raids.
