Average item level calculation needs fixing, as does lv50 gear progression

I remember tanking Titan HM for my relic weapon in darklight with a GC weapon. It was by no means easy, and after all my cooldowns were popped, I had to time those Flashes perfectly to dodge Mountain Buster or we'd wipe. So there's no way you can convince me full Darklight was "overkill".

A tank can't have the HP to survive Titan's Mountain Buster + Bombs exploding near them while they are decked out in AF armour and some pre-lv 50 rings. Even with my own tank's gear (i93) I tend to have trouble if the bombs spawn in a weird pattern so that two are on top of me. Which I've noticed is happening more often than it used to .

Full DL is way more than enough and i93 is just absurd.

Two+ bombs should never be a problem because you have the option to stand on just one :/

You know you can save Rampart and Sentinel for Mountain Buster? You've even got HG if it hits the fan.

Good gear is one thing but bad players are another, even as a i106 Tank I don't think i'd have the audacity to purposefully let multiple bombs hit me in the face.

I've watched Dragoons purposely leap off Titan's platform at the start of the battle.

The fact of the matter is DF throws you into a random PUG group. I can recall only two Titan HM's where a healer was able to focus on me without needing to also heal the DPS / rez people, which means I might actually be at half HP or less when those bombs double spawn on top of me and do so in such a way the only means of avoiding them would be to run behind Titan and have him blast the party members with his hitbox. And if you don't have amazing DPS (again, you likely won't) a Paladin will run out of cooldowns before Titan dies, even if you only use the cooldowns during the bomb phases. A lot of groups are still relying on a LB to clear the heart phase.

You'd do better in these type of conversations if you don't assume a random group of people people are going to be perfect robots who flawlessly execute a strategy together. That's incredibly rare, and that isn't how content should be designed. You have to afford a margin of error, or you end up with situations like lv 45 AF tanks trying to tank Titan HM.

That would put your average ilvl below 50; you're saying that it needs to be 70. That's a really big gap you aren't accounting for. I'm pretty certain he can be tanked in full Hoplite (plus one ring).

Yes he can most definitely, at this stage of the game SE probably thought that healers would put either stone skin or Aldloqium up. To help the tank while the tank uses cool downs.

Stoneskin, Adlo, Virus, E4E, and all the tank CDs. Plus, y'know, you can always tank-swap if you bring in 2 tanks. . .

you do realize there is always a safe spot for bombs in titan hm right ? so the only things you need to mitigate are rock buster followed by mountain buster, inner beast/pop cooldown after landslide => problem solved, you can even precast stoneskin as paladin and use flash as additional cooldown as well

Yeah, how about you just stop eating those bombs (and start stoneskining yourself if PLD).

It's funny you post about "doing the content so many times I know how it works" and then about eating 2 bombs as the tank.

When we originally ran Titan hard for relics, we asked all party members to have 3k HP and 5k HP for tanks. That meant AK gear (item level 55) combined with a couple of darklight pieces. And it was more than enough without the echo.

You can't even tank the Expert dungeons like Hullbreaker and Stone Vigil HM unless you already have i80 gear; this gear progression makes absolutely no sense at all.

It's completely doable to tank the dungeons you mention with minimum requirement (ilvl 70).

it is possible. I don't main tank and mine is at ilvl93. The mobs in hullbreaker hit pretty damn hard because my life was almost always around 30/40%. Not sure if was the lack of healing or poorly time defensive cool downs but I can't see anyone doing mass pulls anytime soon.
