Had some 90ks this weekend, too. Turned out it was Comcast and my modem going nuts. Could access web pages, etc. just fine (albeit slowly) but the launcher just would not do anything.
Sometimes the 90000 errors happen from server stress, which is much more common shortly after a major patch and during free login weekends (for obvious reasons). Sort of ironic that they try to get people to enjoy the new content and get them to come back, but in doing so they over stress their servers and make all the wayward players think that the infrastructure is crap. I had more connectivity problems over the past weekend than the past 2 or 3 months combined, though I know at least some of it was TWC as one or two times my internet connection fizzled to a few Kb/s for minutes at a time.
TWC!? You must be from the Northeast US ;pSometimes the 90000 errors happen from server stress, which is much more common shortly after a major patch and during free login weekends (for obvious reasons). EDIT: nevermind TWC is Country wide, I was thinking something else
I hard ever any 90k nut Saturday I got disconnected like 3 times but that had to do with to many people in a zone because of hunts.
Outside of launch week I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've been d/ced with a 90k error that due to server-side issues.
I played all weekend on Balmung - one of the busiest servers - and didn't get d/ced once except for when my router crapped out once on Saturday. Two of my friends got d/ced when they were in private rooms on Friday, but that was the only complaint about server-side disconnections that I had heard all weekend.
I can understand why 90k would be an issue for you, OP, and why you'd stop playing because of it, but I really doubt that the issue is server-side.
I rarely get 90k. In fact, the last time it had happened to me was around the 2.3 patch (which was taken care of by a maintenance).
Now Saturday I did have some lag issues, but I was able to determine that was because I had a Twitch.tv broadcaster on in the background.
But there still remains connection issues between ISPs and the data center in Montreal. And, while I've had Comcast & SE tell me it's not their end, I've come to the conclusion that it's in between and out of their hands, and it's that L3 company (that has a notorious reputation).
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
