[Suggestion] NPCs covering themselves when it rains

    Heya!

I was walking down to Gridania, and I noticed how the NPCs were getting wet while looking quite neutral to the rain, even though they should have something like 40°C fevers or chronic bronchitis.

My suggestion was: What if these NPCs would run to the nearest roof or tree to cover themselves from the rain?
Or if not that, I'd totally respect the idea of giving random NPCs cough animations or shivers after the rain is over.

    Thanks for listening!

They're just so damn used to the rain already.

Besides, even if you catch a terrible cold, just get yourself Esuna'd.

i thought of this in beta forums. i think the weather should also effect us.
and the only way to get rid of it is by going inside a inn/house/by a fireplace and eating and drinking soup.
or let use use an umberlla during rain, or heavy clothing [vanity?] in snow.

when youre in the desert, bring the filtered water we ketp friggin gettin in HM runs...........-.-

Ah same for coerthas, you'd need to drink some soup or do something to warm you up.

I would love it if NPC behaviour/dialogue was dependent on weather and time of day (and possibly season), but I'd imagine that would be an utter nightmare to actually develop.

Well, depends on how complex their coding is, but I assume a simple case of " IF [set value for weather]=ON then set DIALOG = [set value for weather dialog] " kind of coding line would do the trick, of course it actually doesn't look like this but that way it's easier to get what I mean.

But your idea is actually awesome ^^

By develop I meant the whole shebang with respect to my suggestion. Coding it might not be too bad, but writing all the dialogue for each NPC for each possible weather/time condition*, designing any pathing that may be done to have NPCs move to a new position, creating animations (if needed), etc...
I could see it being a huge undertaking to go all out with it. While I'd personally love it and see it as time well-spent to flesh out the world, I'd imagine 90% or the player-base would neither notice nor care about such things. :-(

*Though giving the dev team a taste of the sightseeing log experience would be fun. :-)

    This.

That being said, based on what was said before. FF14 has some horrendous coding, where the simplest change takes months of work. So don't count of this happening.

That was for v1, I'm not sure 2.x works the same

Edit, I'm totally for them feeling our pain about the sightseeing log xD
