4GB RAM, 2.4Ghz Quadcore, GTX450, 450W PSU and a fast HDD is what I would recommend for this game. I just stated the cards required for max settings as a compairson. But a GT530 is definately waaaaaay behind anything else and will give in when you try this game on it. It's a special ultra lowend OEM GPU that is just a bit better than onboard.

Wrong i play on high setting with depth of field on a 450gts so no no need to waste 200+ on a video card.

450GTS or 460gts is good enough but if he have more money sure he can get a 560gtx but if he low on cash i think a 450/460 would do him pretty good for under 200$

    First of all WASS!UP! burito
Second if you dont care to much about graphics then you dont need anything fancy i bought a 300$ desktop with a pentium dualcore at 2.8 each, 4gigs of ram, 1tb hard drive, then upgraded to 550watt power supply and a HD5770 all my game settings are set at standard turned my overdrive down and when i play i set fan speed at 75% i take the side of the case off and stays at about 70-75F (seems to get hotter when in windowed mode) the only time i ever get lag is when im in a busy city like uldah and iv'e played for hrs with out having to shut down for cool down

And what are your other settings? 16x FSAA? When I said max I really meant max not mediocre. Don't say someone is wrong without providing valuable information.

16xq CSAA to be Exact but i was told it just lower my FPS and does noting even tho i can play on it and don't see much of a drop in FPS there your valuable information?

    And to give you more

    drawing quality high
    background drawing high
    Shadows high
    Texture quality high
    texture filtering high

And just to let you know setting for drawing quality and background drawing make no diff if you have it on high or Standard the only reason i have it on high is to see how hot my video card can get which max out at 71C and not playing anything 35C.

So it goes to show you how highest and Standard does noting all it does is lower your FPS. But i agree if you want to play on highest 24.7 and once they fix this game and maybe upgrade to DX11 ya sure that 560gtx would be a good video card to play on and SE have no plan at all to upgrade the game to DX10 or DX11 anytime soon it's a waste of money and by the time they do you can buy the 560Gtx for way cheap or even get a new video card by then.

I somehow have serious doubts that you have 60fps with those settings on that GPU.

and i seriously doubts anyone can get 60fps within the city to start with? so i get about 40-45 in city and 60fps outside. The game is not optimized correctly i knew this from day 1 of beta when ATI card could not even play beta1 till ATI ended up helping SE. So yes i'm playing on high setting with the lag that pretty much anyone gets i talked to players who had 500s and 6000s and they told me they lag just the same.

So i'll end it here no need to waste 2k on a pc to run FFXIV on high setting when Standard and highest look 100% the same.

You probably won't have 60fps in front of the R45 dungeon either :P
Whereever there's too many polygons those midrange cards give in.

I'd wait until the game's re-rendered hardware wise D: there's still some poor coding done by SE. But they'll fix those issues. But it's up to you.

I'm on a GTX460 as well and it's just doing fine, the rest of my rig is pretty medi-core but nothing superior and I can play it. I'm gonna freak out though if SE is rising the #'s of displayed models/stuff and my gtx won't make up for that =3.
But I doubt that, that will be fixed by changing the RAM I spose.

Oh I haven't checked those PC rig links yet. Are there SSD somewhere? That thing made up some huge perfomance boost on my FFXIV D: or at least it feels like it.

And you think 30+ is lagging? in beta1 the game was set for 30fps then it was unlock FPS which people was complaining and most powerful cards was getting 90-100+fps. But then they ended up locking it at 60fps for whatever reason they wanted. So really 30-60fps is not lagging you start lagging around 25-FPS which i stay up a easy 60fps outside and 40+ in city with the setting i show you.

And let's say the dungeon do for whatever reason put me lower then 30fps i can put it on Standard and it would look the same as highest so what else you have to tell me that i don't know already or you running out of ideas? oh and for the hell of it let's say 2years from now they end up upgrade to DX10 on a pack i can easy get the 560GTX for half of what it is now. Then when they upgrade DX11 in a few more years i can get 660gtx when that come out so at the end what the point of wasting 200$ on a video card what the game look the same on both standard and highest.

and when they do come out with the 600s i can get the most powerful 500s and get x4 and SLI with it and play in 3D with 3 monitor and it wont even cost me as much as getting today.

Your right if you want a more powerful card get the 560GTX but it not like the game look better on highest vs standard and by standard am only talking about drawing quality and background drawing Because even my old 3870 can play on standard and get 60FPS outside and 40fps inside sure it can't play with depth of field or multisampling but it can play on high with texture quality and texture filtering on highest. Even drawing quality and background drawing but like i said what the point of putting both on high if standard is the same?

and am guessing once the core system is fix my 3870 and 450gts would play on even better setting so ya get a 560gtx if you have the money if not then 450/460 would do just fine with the game. that all am saying not saying your wrong just saying that stanard and highest for the two setting i told you mean jack ****
