There are things I would love to see added to the battle log, and I'm sure all those people who like parsing their log files would agree.
TL-DR version
- Time stamp option for actions in battle
- Effects of DOTS and Regen spells
- Enemy numbering for grouped mobs
- Enemy rank shows in log
Wall of text version
- Time stamp option for actions in battle: Currently if I actually want to be able to check dps in any sort of real manner I need to hit /clock on a very regular basis to get an idea of output. Adding a simple {hh:mm:ss} option to the beginning of each action would allow for real analysis of dps and a better understanding of the timeline of events in battle.
- Effect of DOTS and Regen spells: Don't understand why this one isn't already there. Hard to decide if nuking on doing DOTS is more efficient use of MP if you can't track how long the DOTS are sticking and how much damage they do per "tick". I love playing around with my stats and seeing how effective the changes are with my different skills and spells, but currently the only method of seen for measuring DOTS was posted by Kaeko Leta of Figaro on his blog, which involved casting dots on the monkeys that do the Poo Smear attack to transfer the effect onto you. Doesn't let you know how long your DOTS last against mobs though without trying to visually watch their health bar for the "ticks", and even that doesn't work against very high hp mobs like NMs as the amount of damage is small enough that it likely won't move the bar down. This should also include Skull Sunder and Bloodletter, especially Bloodletter since it gives you a way to check if it's still up or if that blade symbol is from Skull Sunder and you're good to go on your next Bloodletter"
- Enemy numbering for grouped mobs: This ones pretty straight forward, mobs that are claimable as groups like in leves, some of the NMs and raid content should have some sort of way to differentiate between which ones being damaged. A simple numbering or lettering system would be fan-freaking-tastic, especially with the new claim system coming. Example: "Your Skull Sunder II inflicts 200 damage to Dodore's Minion [a]"
- Enemy rank shows in log: This ones kind of low on my wish list, but would be nice for parsing if you could see in the log what rank of mob you're hitting too. Currently if I'm doing in depth testing I manually write down the mob level to track how much damage they take or give, or how resistant they are to spells.
I'm sure that there are people out there who have other ideas for additions to the log, would love to hear thoughts on both the 4 I mentioned and any other ideas![]()
