    Gambits for Pets?

Alright, first off I am new here so hello and sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum!

Secondly; the thought that came into my head.
I've been reading a lot about how a lot of Arcanists/Scholars don't like the AI system for their pet. Whether they use a spell prematurely or just don't heal the right people at the right time, those classes seem to get a bad rep (mainly just Arcanist though).

Wouldn't it be neat if they implemented the gambit system within the pets much like the gambit system used in Final Fantasy 12? Customize your pet's actions without having to waste precious time micro managing their every move. And just like ff12, you gain more gambit slots with progressively higher levels. How many of you would actually like to see something like this happen?

You think it would make the Arcanist class too easy/OP to play or no? What kind of good/bad stories do you have to tell about your times with/ being an Arcanist?

Honestly, Gambits might work better if pets actually had a range of skills but they have four... literally just four.

I personally feel that pets in this game were just afterthoughts rather than an integral part of the gameplay. Sure, Eos may heal and Garuda can extend my debuffs, but they're more like an extension of your existing skill set rather than anything special of their own.

In total, Garuda has four skills. Three of them are attacks, one of them extends debuffs to double duration. That's it. Not much variation except one of them is an AoE, and one does knockback. Compare to FFXI's summons where you had everything from personal buffs (Aerial Armor) to devastating single-target damage (Predator Claws), and of course the ever wonderful Hastega. It's a bit pale side by side...

Pets in this game are really lacking, but they have made it clear that they don't want to give any job anything too powerful that groups would pass up other jobs for it. Look at the titan thing for Ramuh, it was causing groups to take a summoner and forego traditional tanks, so they nerfed it quickly, and suspended forum account from people that made threads about it because they were publicizing an exploit. Everything from aggro, like if you send Titan into a group, the one he attacks aggros him, but the rest go straight for the summoner, to their attacks just seem like lazy development.

The problem is the more you try to level the playing field, the more you also lose any sense of individuality that class has. Might as well call them 'Generic Mage' and 'Generic Melee' for all the difference it makes at the end of the day.

I'm pretty sure there was a dev response some point in the past that basically said "No."

Yep, here it is. Of course, this was back almost a year ago, so things might have changed, but I doubt it.
