Like game, but combat is repetitive, maybe I am doing something wrong? (HELP REQUEST)

So love the game so far. I am lvl 22 Archanist, its beautiful, love the story and the dungeons. But, I am finding combat boring, I dont get new spells often (every 4 levels) and when I do they are underwhelming. I have been using the same combo for a LONG TIME now. (sick pet, 2 dots, small nukes till dead). Will it start to diversify? When I start to level other classes can I mix and match the spells for some variety?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

You do get to do cross class skills. You can start leveling other classes now. Also you will be able to choose a job class. If you level ACN to 30, then level either conjuror to 15 for scholar, or level thaumaturge to 15 for summoner.

I find summoner one of the most versatile because you aren't limited to just dps, although that is most of it. So yes, you get more options.
You could also take the scholar branch if you find you like healing more than dps.

Both summoner and scholar are possible paths from arcanist. Sorry, tired.

The basics of what you do to open combat won't change as you gain levels - the whole idea is to give you your basic tools early so you get comfortable with them.

You'll get MORE tools all the way to the level cap, however, and everything will interact with what you do now.

And let's just say that the enemies themselves will start doing a lot more. :3

You will find that SE designed these classes starting from Lv.50 and then just removed abilities as they de-leveled them to 1. The gameplay at 50 feels much better, as you have just the right number of spells and abilities without it feeling cluttered.

Prior to 50 though, many classes feel incomplete. This is most glaringly obvious at low levels, but the feeling continues until lv.30 or 35. At that point, dps start getting big changes to their main damage mechanics, tanks get more defensive/enmity options, and healers become more capable with healing output/mitigation.

You'll never feel it more than when you're forced to run a low-level DF after playing 50 on the class.

Even at one new spell every several levels, they do start to add up eventually. And even that basic "2 dots" piece of the pattern you already have can get more complex when you're cycling between multiple mobs trying to maintain those DoTs on all of them.

I think it's only glaringly obvious when you're level-synced down to those low levels after gaining and using high-level skills the rest of the time. The skills work together well enough each step of the way, but after you're at a high enough level to get the advanced skills, it's awkward to sometimes have access to them and other times not.

Just keep trucking along OP. All classes suffer from a lack of abilities at the lower levels, but once you start unlocking jobs at level 30 your abilities will start piling up on you and you'll have a more complete picture of how your classes play.
