And vaguely having a snide dig at someones intelligence, working status, lifestyle and financial ability isn't considered a personal attack? All followed by being unable to quote a person properly?
*whistles* Kids in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I'll leave my two cents here.
You have a market with a 20% share for PS4 players, 20% share for PS3 (I'm being generous.) and a 60% share for PC gamers which are the core MMO enthusiasts.
What company in their right mind would even remotely consider shelving their biggest marketshare?
That's all.
Sounds great! When should I expect my complimentary PS4 in the mail?
The lack of memory and fast hard drives is a really limiting factor.

hahaha omg hilarious! Love it! xD
Yeah a few pages in and I'm kinda surprised at you guys (I should know better.) It's just in response to the "Playstation holding us back" threads and all the threads about pc apps that may or may not be cheating.![]()
A lot of these folks are brand new to the franchise - they didn't spend a decade with us in XI so they have no idea what we are talking about.

Pretty hilarious, how uptight folks are getting about a thread that was an obvious "take that" against similar "Drop teh dum consoles!" threads. Still, as long as everyone's ranting and raving, I might as well pour some of my own gasoline on the fire...
"Your point is invalid because consoles can be hacked tooooo!!!!" - This is true. However, cheat tools are MUCH easier to implement on PC. You don't have to mod your PC to get them to work like you do a console. You don't have to have a SCRAP of programming or hardware savvy. You just go to cheat dot cheat dot cheat dot omgcheeeeeaaat dot com, download the tool you want, install, and bam - you're good to go. While cheaters may also exist on platform, this means they will be FAR outnumbered by the cheaters on PC.
While I can't say for sure whether this has happened yet on FFXIV, in FFXI certain tools were so widespread that it was EXPECTED for at least some of the higher-ups in linkshells to be using these tools. For some of the harder content, it was expected that EVERYONE be using cheats to one degree or another - I've known people who wouldn't run Nyzul Isle (a very time-restrictive instanced event) unless every member had tools that would allow you to see through walls, for instance. I anticipate that the same will happen in FFXIV, as more and more difficult content is added.
And, on the flip side of the argument...
"Consoles are not holding back development of the game!!!" - Yes, they are. They totally are. It's the nature of the beast - consoles are locked in stasis, and upgrading them with newer and better technology is difficult (or, at least, unsupported - why would Sony want to upgrade current platforms when they make a mint by selling whole new consoles instead?). In FFXI, SE developers flat out stated that certain things are difficult or impossible due to "PS2 limitations". They stopped using this excuse pretty quick when it resulted in horrendous PC-vs-Console rivalry (or, at least, added a lot of fuel to the fire), but it seems that the FFXIV devs haven't learned from that mistake as they've started using the same excuse for this game. Whether they outright use that excuse, though, or whether they tactfully refrain from explaining just why they can't do such-and-such a thing, it still remains true.
Of course, even with PC-only MMOs, they aren't constantly riding the cutting edge of technology. Whenever new PC technology is going to be embraced, developers need to carefully consider how expensive it will be to update the game to use the new technology, and how many gamers on older PCs are going to be left behind - and some WILL be left behind; not everyone can afford to buy a new high-end PC every time a game evolves beyond their PC's capabilities!
In the end, it's pretty much a pointless argument. FFXIV is a cross-platform game, and was designed as such. SE has made an unusual and controversial choice in stating that PS3 will eventually be discontinued - but this is likely because PS3 was already nearing the end of its lifespan when FFXIV came out. PS4 is shiny-new, and FFXIV will play well on it for many years to come. Look at FFXI - it is STILL tied to PS2, even now. US support for PS2 was dropped, but PS2 is still supported in EU and (most importantly, from SE's perspective) JP regions, and therefore FFXI on PC is still limited to what can be done on PS2.
