ffxiv keeps crashing (PC)

Bought the game past week, and it crashed -crashed the whole system- right on the first scene of the intro. then on the next, and on the next on different occasions.

pretty much lowered all the graphical detail to the minimum and finally was able to play -intensively- for a few days, but yesterday crashed yet again, and badly, the hard drive the game is installed in -a 750 GB slave- was unreachable for a couple of reboots and some of the info within got lost.
The drive seems to be in working order and with no bad sectors, and I can't find a reason for the last crash, maybe the temps, but couldn't check them until the second restart.

My rig is an athlon II 3ghz x2, 8 GB RAM and a sapphire radeon HD 7750. the HD is a hitachi old model, but bought new 6 months ago, more or less.

now, this is not the most intensive game I have run on this machine, nor the only MMO, and never encountered this kind of behavior -ok, maybe a little app crash with the last wolfenstein, but that's to be expected-

any Idea of what is causing the crashes? they mostly happen when entering a new area.

Can we PLEASE keep this to the same error? As the OP has wrote. This is an issue with the game crashing to windows only. It still is happening to me. Some times 30mins, other times hours. It seems completely random. Why won't Square address us/this issue?
