Tired of seeing obvious BTN botters

Head to Central Shroud Bentbranch where the wind crstyals are, chances are you will see lots of Botanists. And most of the time, for me at least, you will see at least one guys who is going on and over, for hours at a time, without stopping, not responding to tells, for DAYS at at time.
Now I would let this slide if it happened once in a blue moon, but its been going on since 2.0 was released
And of course we get several tweets a month on how hundreds of illegal accounts have been permanently banned from the game.
Yet there I am, day after day, looking at this same guy bot away with no problem.
My question is this.
HOW HARD IS IT TO HAVE A SE EMPLOYEE INSTANTLY BAN THIS GUY
Its SO OBVIOUS THEY ARE BOTTERS
WTF IS GOING ON IM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS
it would only take 5 minutes to get rid of these guys
and then you go to the market and see thousands of crystals sold by someone.
NO HUMAN BEING CAN FARM THAT MANY CRYSTALS
WHY IS THIS STILL GOING ON ITS DRIVING ME INSANE

Here are some simple ideas to stop these guys
Im sure SE has the ability to head on over to Central shroud and observe these guys. If they suspect botter, send them a tell. If no response and they have OBVIOUS bot behavior, like following the EXACT same path OVER AND OVER for hours on end, THEN ITS OK TO BOOT THIS GUY.
They shouldnt be there for DAYS
there is NO EXCUSE FOR THIS

They would rather get a few RMTs for every botter, just look at last month's totals 752 accounts that got banned for RMT activities, 9 suspended for other stuff. Right from the start the devs have had some sort of unhuman fear of RMTs, and it shows. The botters I figure they are fine just collecting their subscriptions each month, and tracing all the gil they go through and just hit those accounts.

Sooo they are there for days on end not responding to tells? To know this you would have to be watching them 24 hours a day to see they don't log out, or stop, let me tell you, if I was gathering and some random sent me a tell I would not reply, so no just someone not replying to a tell from a random is not proof someone is botting. You know with this botting witch hunt people have been called out over botting just for gathering normally.

SE are able to detect and do ban bots, as long as they are reported, it looks like they don't do anything because they have to thoroughly investigate reports. They don't just throw a banhammer straight on every report.

Also on your "have someone stand around hoping they see something" you do know how much it would cost them to have someone sat around waiting for apparent bots don't you? Add in the fact they actually loose money from bans through losses in sub fees it's in no way financially viable to do this when there are other more productive things they could do.

Have you considered that this person derives great pleasure out of farming for things to sell in order to be able to afford a house when personal housing comes out?

Have you considered that he is chatting with his Linkshell friends the entire time?

Have you considered that he has a job that lets him play and work at the same time, possibly from home?

Have you considered that this person simply has a similar play time to yourself? Thereby giving the impression he does not log out?

As stated in the post above, unless you observe him "botting" for 72+ hours consecutively, and being online YOURSELF that long to do the observing, You cannot under any circumstance accuse him of botting.
GMs are likely looking at what he is doing, perhaps they even questioned him about it, and come up clean and left to do his thing.

TL;DR, Just because you THINK someone is a bot, does not make them so.

I notice retainers who sell like 20 stacks of 1000 crystals is odd to me.

I tried to stay up a full day collecting crystals and managed to get around 2000 but I found myself taking breaks a lot and I am sure you could go max 3k

but 20 I don't think so unless you are non stop treasure hunting even then.

and who says they did it all in one day?

~30 minutes of farming gave me ~150 crystal shards ~50 crystals. there are skills that increase your yield.

I too sometimes ignore tells from people I don't know. if someone accuses me of botting I tell him to bugger off and annoy someone else. Someone said "give me gil or I'll report you for botting" to which I replied "Reported for black mailing, have a nice day"

why does it seem to be such a pain in ffxi and ffxiv with bots and people accusing others of botting? It never was this nasty in other MMOs I played, and FFXIV really takes the cake when it comes to this behavior atm =.=

Clearly ya never played GW2 at launch mate. The threads here were nothing compared to the threads I saw there.

That said, I love the "just throw the banhammer" demands, only to have someone inadvertently banned for "doing nothing wrong" and demanding better procedure. If you see a bot, report it. If you don't and just come here to complain, you're not helping anything!

They have to investigate it to avoid banning legit players. And as for the whole "collecting money from RMT thing", yea most use stolen credit cards, so all that "money they collect" gets taken back if a CC company looks into it.
