While I don't agree that anyone should get credit for just hitting them once, the lower end ones were DESIGNED for solo players. But, people should of expected the zergfest to happen with open world stuff like this.

Than why do it?
When I am bored I roam areas in search for hunt marks, if I get one, fine. If not fine too.
I saw a B mark, waited a bit, and as soon as one attacked it I attacked too. 5 seals and more than I expected in tomes. Was it full credit? I don't know, nor do I care, it was fun to see and attack one of the "unmarked" hunt marks
Full credit for B rank is 5 seals, 30 myths, and 10 soldiery. So you actually did get full credit.Than why do it?

The problem with the "join a party" argument is that your entire party needs to mystically be at the mark before the zerg greedily melts it and all land at least one hit on the enemy designed for 4 to 8 players.
If hunting were actually a small group activity that required cooperation from a party, it'd be a valid argument. It's not, though. It's a zerg activity requiring some timers and a lot of luck. Either it needs to be reworked to accommodate being a zerg activity, or something needs to be done to stop it from being zerged.
The issue with getting full credit for landing one hit would be that people will just hit the mob and leave. To get the reward, some people will have to stay and kill the NM and have a harder time while the others get the reward for doing nothing.
I'm pretty sure if 80 people stab an 8-man monster once, its chances of dying are pretty high. Jus' sayin'.
Because my party will load in faster than the 80 people networked between 3 hunting linkshells spread across a zone with a spawn timer list and radars can all show up and bomb the thing, even if I did the work of finding the thing in the first place. Hmm, it's almost as if fixing the requirement to wait for my party fixes the crediting system in this case!
Only a handful of people would do this, just like the people doing it with fates, while farming atmas.
Also i have a hard time finding a reason to do this, B and A Ranks die in under a minute, and no one would leave a S and take the risk, that they dont get it downed.
You cannot provoke monsters, of someone whos not in your group.
