    Gardening question

I've seen these intercrossing gardening spreadsheets that shows 3 different plants. Do you have to grow 3 plants side by side, or the first plant and one of the other 2 listed side by side? So do I plant 2 plants adjecent or 3? I keep seeing people say they intercrossed by planting this plant and another plant which makes me think 2 garden patches side by side, or do I plant all 3 of the plants listed side by side?

For start - I recommend this great gardening thread (plus other in the same forum section) ...

Not sure what kind of sheet you're looking for but in general you have:
    1. Primary plant - the one which will give you the seeds if crossbread correctly / sucessfully
    2. Assisting plant - the one needed for crossbreed
    3. Resulting plant seeds

So that could be those 3 you're referring to - you plant only first two to get the third one - in the same garden patch in two beds next to each other. It's more complex though as it also depends on order of planting as well as other surrounding plants in the same patch. Other patches have no impact on crossbreed. Normally (if you have limited seeds supply or they're very expensive to use them on experiments) you would plant two seeds only with nothing else connected to them (for this is the best 2 x 3 patch where tou can run 2 independed tests on each side or if you have large patch you'd need to use opposite corners only) or just alternate 2 type of seeds to both increase the chances of crossbreed as well as eliminate unwanted crossbreeds.

This is the spreadsheet I'm reading, the really popular one. There are 4 columns. The first is what you get by cross breeding, but then there are 3 more columns after.

Ok - the the first one will be in the "middle" (or corner) with two adjanced ones (2 + 3) on each side of it. Normally when 2 and 3 are the same simply alternate the harvested (primary) one with adjanced (assisting) one.

    So for the same adjanced:

    Code:
    1 - 2 1 - 2 - 1 1 - 2 - 1
    | | or | | | or | | |
    2 - 1 2 - 1 - 2 2 X 2
                                 | | |
                                 1 - 2 - 1
for small, medium and large patches.

    And for different adjanced:

    Code:
    1 - 2 1 - 3 - 1 1 - 2 - 1
    | | or | | | or | | |
    3 - 1 2 - 1 - 2 3 - X - 3
                                 | | |
                                 1 - 2 - 1
Finally - alternative patterns for medium patches (with same adjanced):

    Code:
    2 - 1 - 1 1 - 2 - 1
    | | | or | | |
    1 - 1 - 2 1 - 2 - 1

Okay, now I'm even more confused. >_< I just want to know if I need 2 or 3 plants to crossbreed. You originally said 2, but then your second post says 3. We have other things in our garden such as chocobo food, so I only have 2 or 3 spaces to use, not the whole garden. The garden is largest with 9 spaces.

If you were looking to crossbreed and try to get say the Garlic Jester Minion seeds you would need to put a Clove of Garlic in between 2 mandrakes (apparently this can cause the seed to be bred - needs to be confirmed just using it as an example)

    So you would put them as M - G - M (M - Mandrake G - Garlic) or
    G - M
    l
    M

    Oh haha!!

The theory is (vegetable) surrounded by 2 mandrakes

    Eggplant - mandrakes
    Garlic - Mandrakes
    Tomato - Mandrakes
    Onion - Mandrakes

Queen is still unknown - my theory though is the new rose seed (above the mandragora seeds on the marketboard) mixed with mandrakes.

My theory for growing Mandragora Queen is the clue in the minion's description, eggplant knight and king tomato.

Just an FYI, there are also other ways to obtain those minion seeds, as I've gotten the Onion Prince from Krakka + Azeyma.
