    Selfish DDs

Hey guys, please feel free to share your experience of selfish DDs whose obsession with maximizing damage puts the whole party at risk.

    Let me start first:

T6: DDs who have vines on them but yet choose to remain static / near rafflesia in order to keep dps'ing

T6/7: DDs who does not stop dps'ing even though Rafflesia hp is near 40% but spit is still long way to go; or during phase change at 60% and 35% hp for T7 boss

T6/7: DDs who does not save any off CD abilities to burn down bulbs, bees or Lamia.

honestly you shouldnt need cooldowns as a dps for the bulbs in T6 if you know what your doing, but anyway, most common culprit i see is monks in turn 9 causing wipes one way or another because they tried to maintain their GL stacks.

Well this happened a long time ago while pugging for a T5 group with 3 friends. After a couple wipes, we realised that the bard was dealing lower damage than the tank and also wasn't singing foe and when we asked him about it, he said he didn't do it cause it would lower his dps. When we pointed out that was not true, he then changed his story to say that he didn't want the casters do do more dps than him. We were like lol wut? He was booted that very instant.

    1) Melee generally will stick to the boss in statics, as they do no DPS away (even BLM can Scathe while moving, or hold a Firestarter for Vines, though many groups will also have BLM stay where they are). I always see OT move first, then healers move, then ranged, then melee if they're stuck to each other.

    2) If Spit is far away, YOU KEEP DPSING. A good group will only have 1 Honey during that phase. If you have the DPS to push and someone holds back...that DPS is going to cause a wipe.

    3) Lol, CDs are used on CD. You don't hold any unless you're only holding for <5 seconds or are really new to the fight. If you don't have the DPS to burn down adds without CDs, your DPS need to get better.

Point I - I play monk, and if I am chained to a bard, caster or healer, I ain't moving. Sometimes move for healers depending on whats going on, like if you have 3 chains on you during the burn phase. And to be honest, when one person sits still, its a lot easier to break chains.

Point II - Not slowing down for phase changes that you are not going to push properly is stupid, agreed.

Point III - You should not really need to save oGCDs to kill bulbs and bees, their HP pool is quite low.

What I am trying to say is that by pushing for that extra few dps when the group does not need that extra dps to clear the raid but which puts the raid party in danger, is the behaviour of a selfish DD

really? does your party's DD not save any CD for <5s for T9 phase 3? Does your paly use Hallowed Ground on CD?

Now you are just playing devils advocate just to do it. You know what PArcher meant. And no I do not save cooldowns in t9 at all, because if you use your cooldowns when they come up, you will have them back up by next phase, PB for golems, PB for heavensfall etc.

Ok my bad for on the pally part but I disagree that a DD should use oCD on cooldown. Do you use IR when you know that Nael is going to jump? Do you use BfB when you are assigned to mine duty and next set of mine is dropping 10s later? Are all fights so nicely scripted for monks such that the timing that an oCD becomes available is the best time to use that oCD?
