Asking others to craft an item for me?

How is it done? Do I hand them the materials and a fee/tip through a trade window? What if I get scammed?

Trying to advance my relic quest but the crafted precursor is ridiculously expensive on the market board.

Your best bet to avoid a possibility of being scammed is to find someone willing to make it first then have you reimburse them for materials in the trade. Otherwise you hand them the materials first and trust that they don't run off with them.

For the materia meld part of it though, there is a separate command for Request Meld. That lets you have the materia, item, catalyst, and any tip you want to give. The crafter gets the request as a whole and can either complete or cancel.

Yes - that's the only option. Don't pay fee untill you'll get crafted items back. If in doubts ask some of your friends / FC / LS members for reference for trusted crafters. Frankly - it's not worth for anyone to run away with your crafting mats for relic

Thanks for the replies. I ended up asking in /shout, and within moments a very helpful/patient person crafted+melded it for me. I hope 15k was an okay tip (wish I'd given more tbh).
