It HAD been that low. Not sure when it changed. Filtered Water was ~1 gil way back when I got into endgame crafting and made my crafting spreadsheet, which was back in late 2.2 or early 2.3. I'm not sure when it spiked, as I bought 198 back then and slowly went through them over the course of a few patches. I went to get more recently and I was like, what the heck, when did this get so expensive?

I don't understand, on Excalibur I always see FCIII's up for 35k each. My average from desynthing shoes, comes to like 75k per practically. Is there a newer/cheaper method I'm not aware of to get them?
Edit: I just bought some for 34k each. This is crazy.

15% means that you'll get 1 to 2 from each set of 10 shoes you buy. At 6k per shoe, that's 1 to 2 for each 60k spent.
I figure, 3 from a set of 20 shoes. That's 40k each from desynthing them myself. If they're being sold at less than that, I'll buy. If the price is higher, I'll desynth.
I must have the worst luck! I like your 40k scheme.15% means that you'll get 1 to 2 from each set of 10 shoes you buy. At 6k per shoe, that's 1 to 2 for each 60k spent.

HQ lumber also sells for 3k ea and NQ for 1k ea, Hard Hippo Leather is ~15k
even if you only get 3 out of 20 FC III you'll make another 30-50k with sidestuff
"Aged Spear (r55) -> 1-2x FC2, 1x Aged Spear Shaft (EY: 0.2) (needed for Zodiac Weapon, buy for 3k from Silver Bazaar vendor)
Perfect Firewood (r90) -> 1-2x FC3"
i have been spamming this daily since release of the zodiac weapon quest. and i have never gotten FC2!! either i get Aged Spear Shaft (the rate for this 1 out of 10 desynths). or junk lumbers/ingots. or clear demi 2. (1 only).
also i never got FC3 from desynthing the NQ Perfect Firewood!!! (only when i fail HQ crafting them. not very often)
My data on this could easily be bad. I never made these items for desynth myself, but other people reported FC2 and FC3s from those. Here's someone saying they obtained FC3s from the i90 crafted items:"Aged Spear (r55) -> 1-2x FC2, 1x Aged Spear Shaft (EY: 0.2) (needed for Zodiac Weapon, buy for 3k from Silver Bazaar vendor)
Perfect Firewood (r90) -> 1-2x FC3"

I don't have a source for the FC2s from the i55 vendor items. I don't recall where I heard that. I'll mark them as unconfirmed next time I update the guide unless someone can confirm them for me.

"dSkill 60-80: Aged Ring (r55) [60% - 92.5%] (FC2) (buy for 3k from Silver Bazaar vendor)"
Out of 99 (including failed attempts) yielded junk ingots/gems, aged eye of fire, and clear demi. No FC2
I desynthed 300-400 of these getting GSM from 100 to 108 and also received no FC2, plenty of Aged Eye of Fire and HQ though.
