Okay! Let's see, ARM 19.15, +51 would be r70, perfect. Take an r70 ARM desynthable item with a materia slot (either a 50** recipe like Darksteel Tassets, or a Warwolf item from PvP like a Warwolf Belt of Fending) and see what your desynth chance would be at 19 skill. It should be 0. Meld a piece of materia to it and check again. I would expect your chance to be either be 6% (negative factor: 0.10) or 3.75% (negative factor: 0.25).

EDIT: Also, if you did the same with a GSM item that was r125, like a Mythrite Bracelet of Fending, and checked both 1 and 2 materia melds at dSkill 72, that would also be really helpful. That's -53 with a bonus of 20%, so I'm expecting either 2.40% (0.1) or 0% (0.25) for one meld, and 8.40% (0.1) or 3.00% (0.25) for two melds.

For GSM, the Bracelet is 0% success rate with no meld, 0% success rate again with 1 melded, goes up to 3% with 2 melded. I melded Dex III and Int III into this bracelet.

    Replying to Nyalia's post here:

I was just basing that off a feeling I got from the new numbers I posted before that. When I said it should be "fine" to use equal ilvl items, I meant about 65% chance and up. After all, levelling desynthesis is all practically based on your personal risk assessment and tolerance. As for what item level, I meant anything in Heavensward, though there is some overlap at 115-130. I'm surprised I was as close as I was.

Also, I'm sorry to say there is an inconsistency in your estimate. Before 3.1 at 180 GSM skill, my success chance with Valerian gear (ilvl 160) was 70%, and in 3.1 it's 85%, not 93.50%. However, you did estimate ilvl 170, 180, and 185 correctly. I think it's just that your rlvl 141-160 list actually goes to 159 and your rlvl 161+ list should actually be rlvl 160+ because "dSkill = rlvl+20: 85.00" from your rlvl 161+ list fits Valerian gear perfectly. Then again, Valerian gear's recipe level could be slightly higher than 160 because it's dungeon gear. Anyway, everything else seems correct.

And btw, is the way I formatted my post too confusing to read? http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post3443196 I understand if it is, just wondering. I was trying to figure out a way to give data without making it repetitive and bloating the post's size. I removed the Careful Desynthesis numbers for +1-5 because now I see that's just clutter.

I don't think your format is hard to read, they are easy to understand and also provide useful information as well.

Yeah, the format is fine. I missed your posts when I did my analysis because I am a total ditz and forgot that November even happened. I was like, those posts are from before December, so the patch couldn't have been live yet, so those must be pre-patch numbers. (In my defense, November was a sleepless blur of feces and screaming)

I'm trying to understand your Valerian numbers though. It was 70% at dSkill 180 pre-patch? That just doesn't sound right. That'd be the right value if we're talking about Yasha items, but Valerian from the 60 dungeons should have been 85% before. Now I can't recall what my chances were when I did those desynths myself... Also, if they were 70% before, it makes no sense that they'd be 85% now. BUT, if they were 85% before, I could see them being 85% now. That would mean you're right that the final round of bonuses is 141-159 instead of 141-160 like I would expect, and the Valerian didn't get the 10% boost that I expected them to get. I'll have to confirm that later. But, if that's true, then I want to know someone's chances to desynth an r140-150 item.

So, if they were 70% before, that might have been a bug where the game incorrectly had them listed at rlvl 170 instead of 160, or maybe you're thinking of when you had 170 dSkill?

Hmm, is there anyone with dSkill 170 exactly who could check their desynth chance of an r150 item? It should be 93.5%, but if it's 85%, the bonuses do something weird. Or, if someone has 150-170, checking items at any of the following rlvls: 133, 136, 139, 142, 145, 148, and 150 would be really, really helpful... Sadly, I can't since I'm past that point with two classes and not anywhere close with the third less exciting class.

^ Law gear and dungeon gear got my GSM to 180.

Question also, does non-colored HQ items give more desynthesis points now?

I don't know the new exp formula (it looks very different than it used to), so it's hard to say. But, do you want to grind it up fast, grind it up economically, or level it slowly but surely (and cheaply)?

At that level, dungeon gear from the level 60 roulette dungeons is super economical, but slow. If you don't care about how fast you're going, if you just run those once a day or so and roll on every accessory and GSM-desynthable weapon that drops, you'll definitely level. ~50-55% at first, then as high as 85%-93.5% by the end (see earlier discussion on Valerian equipment and the desynth bonus). You can use excess Law tomes from leveling to desynth Yasha rings, but I'd wait until closer to 170 skill for that. Without the exp formula, I can't really tell you when is mathematically best to start on Yasha, but at 160 skill, you have a 40% chance with Yasha, a 45% chance at 165, 50% at 170, and 60% at 175.

If you want to level it as fast as possible, ignoring any cost, farm Diadem. Desynth the r150 and r180 GSM items instead of turning them in for tokens. With a good farm party, you should be able to get those pretty quickly. You could also try going with friends who are willing to pass on the i150/i180 GSM desynthables, perhaps in exchange for you passing on other items. That'd likely be the fastest, especially with a good zerg farm.

For other classes, notably LTW, ARM, and BSM, I believe it's also totally viable now to grind up from 160 to 170 (and possibly higher?) on the r150 adamantite-containing craftables purchased from the Repository Node in Azys Lla, like the Hunting Belts for LTW. I dunno if Adamantite Nuggets are still 20k, but they were last I checked, making LTW hunting belts pretty revenue-neutral. With lower level items giving more exp, the exp should be worthwhile for a lot longer.

EDIT: But yeah, Law items are great, while you have the Law for them. I don't know that Law farming to get more once you run out is better than just farming i180s in Diadem though, if you don't want to wait until you get more Law incidentally while doing other things.
