Desynthesis Endgame Guide

My LTW has a desynth skill of around 72 and cannot desynth this gear with any sort of viable percentage. How is it feasible to level from 60-80? Is this assuming that you are going to fail a significant number of times but the overall gain is worth it?

Some quick math: At 72 skill, you have a 54% chance of success. Let's call that a 50% chance. The cost is 6k for the sandals. You can get FC3s with about a 20% chance, and last time I checked, FC3s were going for 50k each on my server. At 50% of 20%, chances are that you'll get one FC3 per 10 desynth attempts, and 5 of those attempts were successes. If you sell/use the FC3s, that means that you've spent 60k to gain 50k, net cost of 10k, and you had 5 successes, for 2k per success. At 2k per success, and about 0.5-0.35 skill per success, that's 40k to get from 72 skill to 80 skill. And, that's not factoring in the value of the other items you can get, which include Hard Hippogryph Leather. HQ Hard Hippogryph Leather sells very nicely on my server (about 50k each), meaning if I were to do this, I would likely *gain* money while gaining skill.

So, if you find a cheaper way to do this for ANY craft, please let me know!

WVR can do similar with the pants, but the item costs double, but the HQ Vanya Silk you can get from it sells for about 180k on my server last I checked, so I'm not sure how that works out.


EDIT: Also, 54% is TOTALLY a viable percentage :P I leveled BSM from 75 to 90 using Summoning Bells, which started at 22.5% and cost me 20k each to make. This is more than half the cost and more than double the chances.

That does answer my question. I never thought to take into account the selling of the items, just didn't seem to make sense. Thank you

I got a darksteel nugget while desynthing a Forager's Dolabra. MCD and FCIII's arent all that are in there, apparently.

Did they recently nerf the acquisition rate of CF1's from lvl 45-49 desynth?
I have gone through a good 10 sets of 20 Electrum Needles, so 200 Needles, and gotten maybe an average of 3 FC1's per set, a 15% chance.
Last week I was getting about 5-6 per set of 20, a ~25% chance... what gives?

It's just been made public that patch 2.45 will drop in "the first half of December" so 2-3 weeks tops. I'm wondering if there is any intent to update this great guide for 2.4 content before then?

I wish I did summoning Bells when they were 20K Each. Now Treated Sprice Lumber is 100K each. Cost of Bells is rediculous.

Summoning Bells don't use Treated Spruce Lumber, they use Ancient Lumber (of which you can use NQ because it's furniture). On my server these are only around 6k each :S Also, Scheelite is around 16k each. Overall each bell should cost around 25k to produce, assuming you gather your own clusters and some of the ore (every BSM should have MIN lvled methinks).

RNGesus giveth and he taketh away. I needed to get 7 FC1s to make something, so I quicksynthed 12 Raptorskin Chokers (I have crap-tons of raptor leather sitting around) and I got all 7 from just those 12. That's a small sample size, but still - random is random. I think back when I compiled the data I had, I estimated a chance of about 17% (meaning, expected yield of .17) for all demimateria from all items regardless of ilvl, but that doesn't seem right. Too many sample sizes were too small. I stopped caring and gathering the data for demi drop rates at some point because it doesn't really matter what the chances technically are.

Nothing I do changes the fact that RNGesus hates me. "RNGesus hates me, this I know, for my Rose Gold Nuggets tell me so." (Seriously, ~120 artisan spectacles now and 4 MCDs? Really?)

Sure, I can update it with a few things. I can't really say which Allagan stuff gives Allagan Silk, Allagan Leather, Allagan Wootz Nuggets, Arachne Velveteen, Kirimu Leather, or Woortz Nuggets. It's not just based on the desynth type, since people are reporting silk from leatherworker desynths. I haven't been farming first coil, because I'm not much of a raider. I can update it though with what I do know. Also, prices are still all over the place, so it's hard to say what's the "best" desynth these days.
