low requirements to catch? i think its one of the hardest fish ingame just because of the huge amount of rng and luck involved to catch it, lol

Regardless of how hard it is to catch, it has very low requirements for a two star i70 fish: less than 247 Gathering, 197 Perception. It is a double mooch, but there are triple mooches in the new content. Also, the first fish for the mooch is a 100% catch rate. If you succeed in getting that fish HQ (25% chance), your chance to catch the second moocher fish is 62.5%, and your chance that he's HQ is 25%. Because he can only be caught from 9am-3pm and only on Clear/Fair weather (fairly big window with common weather), the data I have is inaccurate for his actual catch rate with the double mooched fish. However, it seems fairly high. The people who have had trouble catching him were likely fishing during the wrong time of day or the wrong weather. So, assuming a catch rate of 50% on the final fish, that's a 2% chance to catch the fish every time you cast.

For reference, Twitchbeard is one of the new fish that desynths into swimsuits. He's only a single mooch, but he can only be caught from 4am-6am during clear/fair weather, your chance to catch the base fish is about 40%, and there are two other fish it can mooch into. He also requires 348 Gathering, 100 more than the Titanic Sawfish.

Also for reference, the chance to catch a HQ Silver Sovereign is about 1.5% per cast, and you need 20 of them for your Forager's Rod.

So, yeah, very low requirements to catch, and not a bad catch rate for an i70 fish.

Muh, it took around 15 combined hours for me to get one sawfish, only including the times its window was actually valid (clear/fair weather, daytime). If my sharks were any indication, he is probably like 2% chance off the wahoo mooch. In 3 hours of combined fishing I had 3 Frilled Sharks bite (well, 2 got away), so who knows. Just because I have the gear now to 100% Sawfish doesn't mean the required RNG is any easier, so not sure whether you can use that as a basis for saying it shouldn't drop mastercraft.

After all, Artisan gear isn't the highest level gear you can desynth, yet it's the only gear we can desynth into mastercraft that we know of. Anyway, all I'm saying, is that where desynthing and mastercraft is concerned, you probably shouldn't use ilvl as a sole metric.
