wow, that seems fairly poor

I've only desynthed 2 Aurum Regis Crafters earrings so far and both returned 2 Aurum Regis Ingots NQ each time

Might've been posted before, and not too significant, but gives hope for fish desynth materia, Wind Materia V.

Ha, that's really cool. I don't know anything about fishing, but I assume that must be a very rare fish? It seems crazy to get Grade V materia from desynthesis.

Then again, it seemed crazy to get Grade IV from Desynthesis with Shiva items in ARR, but that was at the very end of ARR anyway when it didn't matter anymore. Or maybe that was in 3.0 even? Still, that gives me hope that we could look at getting Grade V materia from desynthesizing battle gear in 3.3 or, more likely, 3.4.

I didn't understand from the guide, but what level does your class need to be to desynthesize stuff? Or let me put it differently - can I level up desynthesis separately with my crafter staying level 1 (or whatever level I'm currently at)?

Level 30 in a crafting class to do the desynthesis unlock quest. Outside of that, level doesn't matter.

Just updating with the knowledge that in 3.3, Void ark and many other gear is now desynthable, and gives high level crafting things like the glass fibers.
