Thanks for pointing this out. Still cant see why its considered the cheapest way of farming B2s considering it uses several 1star gathering node items as well as crystals. We are able get the same amount (1-2 demi) from the lvl 48-49 50* gear and those only require shards and cheaper matts. Budding rosewood wand, Tane mahuta, Embossed book of electrum etc.

Edit: After confirming that GSM Earings are in fact i50* i made a mistake in stating that i49 items drop Battle IIs in stacks of x2. They still drop Battle IIs but in singles.

Precisely because it is 1* node items and only requires 3 of them. Tane Mahuta requires 4 items, one of them (Ochu Vine) being a mob drop. Embossed book is a 2-step synth, ergo more work. That's also assuming i49 stuff will even give battle 2.

I can guarentee 48-49 i50* gear gives Battle 2s and they also drop in stacks of max 2 from my experience. I farm B2s on my GSM using i50* jewelry. Just wanted to see why this ALCH method is considered the cheapest. imo its definately not.

Spinel Earings only require 1 electrum ingot and 2 Spinel. I must be missing something. 1star nodes are gated by time/cost/class making i55 expensive and time consuming. i50* items are much cheaper/easier to spam imo.

Lets just hope this new theory of "Diminishing Returns" isn't as bad as they say it is.

I have never gotten a Battlecraft II from ilvl 48-49 gear, only from i55 gear. I get Battlecraft Is from ilvl 48-49 gear. Can you post a screenshot of getting a II from items in that range?

Also, yes, my math was taking into account the 70% success rate. On my server, HQ Dzemael Tomatoes are going for 5k each, making the relish cost 80k each (the shards are not cheap either). Summoning bells, in contrast, take only ~30k in materials (8k for Scheelite, 10k for Petrified Log, 4k for Scarlet Sap, 3k for Ferberite, 3k for clusters). Taking the 70% into account (and rounding up), that costs 43k, which is about half the price of the relish. Even if the relish has a higher chance of giving Demi IIIs (which is not what my experience shows), it's a more expensive (and time consuming) option.

Also, random being random, we need a larger sample size to really get the correct yields. All my sample sizes are well under 100, which is hardly enough to conclusively say anything about the actual chances. Adding your results for Artisan Spectacles to what I have read elsewhere, that's 140 attempts, 22 FC IIIs, giving a chance of 15.7%. The more data I get, the more the numbers are converging on the same range. I'm starting to think that there isn't a difference between i90 and i70, even if i90 can give sets of 2s. However, on my server, i90 items are half the price of i70 items across the board. i70s tend to be about 100k each (artisan specs being the cheapest that I've seen at 80k), and i90 items tend to be about 40k each (summoning bells being the cheapest at 30k. Even with the 70%, i90s are cheaper. On my server. If your server has different prices, then do things accordingly. I gave a link to the spreadsheet I'm using to calculate costs. You can use it with your server's prices and see what's best.

That's... unexpected. Can anyone else confirm that i48-i50 items (non-1*) give Demi IIs, both Battlecraft and Fieldcraft? I thought I'd tested them out and got Is, but my memory isn't the best and I could be mistaken. I know for certain that i47 crafting gear gives FC Is.

I'll try to get a screen tonight but i can confirm it is the case. Test it out on a batch of 20 earings and u should get a few. Try sticking to the i49 i50* items as i did notice a difference compared to i48 i49* for example. i49 drops in singles.

Edit: After confirming that GSM Earings are in fact i50, i made a mistake in stating that i49 items drop Battle IIs. I'll double check again tonight to confirm.

I can confirm battlecraft 2's from lvl 50 recipes (that aren't 1-star, like tane mahuta) but I haven't tried much with 48 or 49's. And most crafts don't have lvl 50 non-1-star synths. Tane Mahuta is great though, can send retainers out for the ochu vines.

Thank you all for the clarification! Sorry for the doubt, but I definitely remember doing i49s and getting Is. Clearly, I misremembered this and need to update my info in various places. Thanks!

    Odd though that i48 = 1x, and i49, 50, 52, 55 = 2x. I'd have expected a wider range to be 1x.

On a side note, does anyone know if Ifrit weapons (i60) and other i60 dungeon drops give Battlecraft III or Battlecraft II? I have yet to get either from them, but I have a very, very small sample size.

And, to help out with figuring the yields on these things, if people could post their data (aggregate or individual) as follows, I'll run some numbers and see if we can figure out how ilvl affects the yields:

    - Recipe Level (Item name or category optional) (Item level for non-vanity items that can't be crafted, recipe level for items that can be crafted, and something else for vanity items that can't be crafted. If you can't figure this out easily (like with Sea-Breeze swimwear), include your desynth skill level and your desynth success chance)
    - Number of Successful Desynths (unsuccessful ones are not important)
    - Demimateria Received (number of times demimateria was given, amount of demimateria each time, and type of demimateria)

    For instance:
    - i60 (Ifrit)
    - 2 total desynths
    - 1 Inferno Demimateria x3

    - i90 (Carbuncle Chronometer)
    - 39 total desynths
    - 4 Fieldcraft Demimateria III x1, 2 Fieldcraft Demimateria III x2

    - i90 (Gold Spectacles)
    - 33 total desynths
    - 1 Battlecraft Demimateria III x1, 2 Battlecraft Demimateria III x2

    - i47 (Electrum Needle)
    - 103 total desynths
    - 11 Fieldcraft Demimateria I x1, 12 Fieldcraft Demimateria I x2

    And so on.

I'm sorry i mixed up the order of the i50/i49 (GSM Earings are i50) items so you may have remembered correctly regarding i48-49 items only dropping Battle Is. It's the i50 GSM Earings (Zircon) that drop Battle IIs up to a max of x2 as Alistaire confirmed with Tane Mahuta. I need to double check if i49 items drop Battle IIs at all.

The earrings, at least on my server, cost twice as much as the Madman's Whispering Rod using the mat costs from the last time I checked. It's just, 22 shards is expensive right now, much more so than 5 crystals. So, the Zircons cost 550 to make, as opposed to the one star gathering mats that are still very cheap.

That said, the Tane Mahuta is a tiny bit cheaper than the Madman's Whispering Rod (about 100 gold with my numbers). I can't find anything cheaper than that. I looked through all of the level 50 recipes, and they are all 4000+, where Tane Mahuta is 1800. So, my point that ALC happens to have the cheapest BCIIs still stands for now, at least on my server.

I'll rerun the numbers with current prices next time I get in game. I'll also verify what the i48 and i49 stuff gives (I'm certain that i47 gives Is only since I desynthed a hundred of them recently).
