For ARM Hardsilver Alembic are a pretty easy craftable replacement for the 120-135 bracket.
Thanks for the advice! But, why are Hardsilver Texture Hammers easier than Titanium Scythes? Titanium Scythes are 1 hardsilver nugget, 1 dark chestnut branch, and 1 cloud mica whetstone. I don't have a MIN retainer, but the branches are straight harvests whereas the lumber takes 5x logs, and the cloud mica whetstones take fewer cloud mica than the nuggets take hardsilver sand. Plus, the hammers have an extra ingredient, the star rubies, which require basilisk whetstones too, which are crafted from basilisk eggs. I'd think the hammers would be harder to craft because they have so many more sub-components and take a good deal more crystals. On top of all that, the texture hammers are r136 instead of the scythes at r139, so they won't get you as far as fast, and of the five mats for the scythes, two can be bought at vendors, vs the five mats for the hammer of which none can be bought at vendors:

Hardsilver Texture Hammer: 10 Hardsilver Sand (MIN), 2 Silver Ore (MIN), 1 Basilisk Egg (MIN), 3 raw star ruby (MIN), 5 Dark Chestnut Log (BTN), 16 Wind Crystal, 5 Wind Shard, 4 Fire Crystal, 4 Earth Crystal, 5 material synths + final synth, r136

Titanium Scythe: 1 Iron Ore (Vendor), 1 Grenade Ash (Vendor), 5 Titanium Ore (MIN), 3 Cloud Mica (MIN), 1 Dark Chestnut Branch (BTN), 5 Wind Crystal, 9 Fire Crystal, 4 Earth Crystal, 2 material synths + final synth, r139

I just fail to see the benefit there...

Also, Hardsilver Alembic is also a bunch of synths for an r133 item that takes 7 material synths plus the final synth and a whole host of mats, vs the Titanium Plate Belt of ... which, while only r130, is far fewer materials. If you want to craft instead of buy, while the titanium belt won't get you as far, it seems much better for the initial bit, and then you're probably ready to skip the alembic and move on to higher ilvl items. Really though, the belts are going to cost less to buy than the materials for the hardsilver alembic will be worth, at least on my server, between the 2x hardsilver nuggets and 2x titanium nuggets. But, if 4x nuggets, 27x crystals, 5x shards, and 8x synths worth of your time are cheaper for you than just buying the r139 belt for 11k, I guess it's a way to advance after the r130 belt isn't getting you enough exp?

Hardsilver Alembic: 10 Titanium Sand, 2 Grenade Ash, 2 Iron Ore, 2 Silver Ore, 10 Hardsilver Sand, 1 Basilisk Egg, 1 Raw Larimar, 5 Wind Shards, 12 Wind Crystals, 8 Fire Crystals, 4 Ice Crystals, 3 Earth Crystals, 7 material synths + final synth, r133

Titanium Plate Belt of ...: 10 Titanium Sand, 2 Grenade Ash, 2 Iron Ore, 3 Dhalmel Hide, 1 Dark Chestnut Log, 8 Fire Crystal, 7 Earth Crystal, 4 Ice Crystal, 3 material synths + final synth, r130

Those are r55, and they are in the guide.

Nyalia, the dungeons drops ex roulette for GSM can give either bc3, clear demimateria 3, hardsilver ingot or Aurum regis nugget.
For LTW drops, it's dragon leather and amphiptere leather. At 160 to 170 dskill you get between 0.20 to 0.45 dskill. I'll do some more and post back

I could swear I've gotten BC2s from them as well, but yeah, I actually just found out last night that they can give BC3s and haven't had a chance to update the guide. Thanks for the confirmation!

At dSKill 160, my math suggests you should average 0.40 skill. At dSkill 165, you should average 0.35 skill. At dSkill 170, you should average 0.30 skill. So, your data is right on point with my exp chart in the OP! Isn't the variance crazy though? Last night, I got 0.36 and 0.70 from two back-to-back desynths of the same rlvl equipment piece (without leveling inbetween).

No problem, you're right you can get BC2S. Out of 30 desyn, I only seen one. I was pretty excited to see that I got 8 BC3S out of 30 and not BC2S.

Due to what he mentioned in your quote - the mats are available entirely from ventures if you choose, and hardsilver dust is a common byproduct of gatherers farming favors. Titanium on the other hand is a pita to farm in mass as it's a random spawn only from nodes.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. I didn't realize Titanium Ore wasn't obtainable from MIN ventures (again, I don't have a MIN retainer), and I haven't gotten around to using my favors yet (waiting for the changes in 3.1 they promised). Thanks!

Wish I had more crafting options trying to move into heavenward levels, but ended up spending the time to farm up all the mats I needed and crafted 100 Archaeoskin Codex's for my Alch desynth skill ups, plus the one extra book I had sitting around.

    Starting Skill: 90.24
    Ended at: 116.07

With no boost I would have had a 7.50% success rate. 2 melds jumped that to a 17.50% success rate, then HQ Bacon Broth and HQ Tinker's Calm brought that up to 32.50% success rate starting off.

Only ended up succeeding 47/101 of my desynth attempts. Of course Alch had to be one to hate me :/
Succeeded over half of my attempts when I skilled up GSM and WVR in the same level range trying to get over the Heavenward hump.

My skillups ranged from 0.31 at the lowest towards the end, and 0.87 at the highest near the start.

In the end I walked away with:

    Lightning/Water crystals,
    15 Archaeornis Leather
    8 Electrum Ingots
    1 HQ Electrum Ingot
    11 Hippogryph Leather
    6 Enchanted Mythrite Ink
    15 Battlecraft Demimateria II
    4 Clear Demimateria

At least I started to break in to Heavenward levels, still a long ways to go though ._.

That was his starting rate. I'm sure it was going up every two successes by 1.5% and later by 2%, ending at (if he kept melding) 77%. I'm not going to do the math to see if the overall rate is above or below average, but what he was really saying was that ALC had more failures for him than the other two desynth classes he did this with.

dSkill 115???-145???: Cedar Fishing Rod (r125???) [30% - 85%] (FC???) (buy from vendor in ??? for 13,194 gil) (VERIFICATION NEEDED)
That rod is 40% @ 120 skill. No tinker's/bacon up.

idk that's the best route, got to 120 skill off Cedar crook: cedar branch+yeti fang+electrum ingot+archaeornis leather

Even @ 7k for the leather the rest being dirt cheap, seemed the best way to go for that range, then maybe holy cedar ring next, 1 holy cedar lumber + 1 varnish, and you can get a lot of holy cedar lumber from the big leves.

Edit: Also, Old World striking dummy is at least r150, still 0% @ 120 skill but I'm very curious what it desynths to so will be pushing for that.
