Hmm. While mogpom and blue cloud coral being there does make two more dissolvents easier to gather mats for, the other three were already easy to gather mats for via retainer ventures and often you had multiple choices of which one to use, so I'm not sure it changes stuff much. Dunno, when 3.1 comes out, I'll do some recalcs.

Incorrect. Fishing retainers were only useful for exactly 1 fish actually used in crafting before this change: Fanged Clam.

Umm ... Blue Cloud Coral (Mind) and Mogpom (Int) were the two that had to be fished up. The other three could already be gathered by Retainer : Bear Fat (Str), Wyvern Wing (Vit), and Deepeye Tears (all) could be obtained by a combat retainer, and Mist Dill (Dex) could be gathered by a Botany retainer.

The Volcanic Rock Salt, however, still needs to be gathered by the player, at 35 per node (with King's Yield 2).

whoops! I misunderstood her comment to mean "the other three added fish"... upon re-reading the post I see that I was mistaken.

Yeah, apologies for being unclear. I had meant that the other three dissolvent-type-specific materials (mist dill, wyvern wings, and bear fat), the ones that fill the same spot as Mogpom and Blue Cloud Coral, except in different types of dissolvent, could already be obtained by retainers (BTN/combat). Most of the time when a dissolvent is needed for a recipe, there are multiple recipes that only differ by dissolvent type. But, I guess MND and INT generally were paired, so this does make recipes that were shared by caster/healer and not any other class easier to make.

Yet, still, as Roth said, Volcanic Rock Salt is still not retainerable, and even besides that, there are often choices that don't use dissolvents and thus require fewer mats overall (items with dissolvents in their recipe immediately get 7 extra mats and 1 extra synth added to the mix just to make the dissolvent, and generally still take as many mats as non-dissolvent recipes). Again, when 3.1 comes out, I'll re-evaluate everything I've put for the non-CRP/ALC classes in the guide.

Right now, if this change makes it easier for you to make a healer/caster item for desynth, go for it. But, I've found that I can't keep up with both price fluctuations (which aren't even constant cross-server so I have to guess what is specific to my server and what isn't) and patch changes if I make them every time either changes in a notable way...

Top priority for this guide is updating CRP and ALC.

Yeah the difference will be that some people don't have certain retainer types and that would dictate what you could gather that way, and now people with fisher retainers have an option on that path.

edit: idk if I'd call the volcanic rock salt limitation a big thing, if you have miner it's an easy 35 rocks each window; it's one of those ones that starts @ 5 per swing.

Just cause I was curious about their level while they were selling so cheaply, I ended up finding that the Bloody items for the relic precursor's seem to fall in the same range as the items you can buy from the Bazaar (rlvl70-80ish)
Depending on the price of them on a person's server, this may be a better alternative for BSM, CRP, and LTW if just starting out/behind on leveling desynth.

Thought you may like to know

Good to know, thanks! Are they all desynthable? I know the ones that are actually weapons themselves are (the Blunt Aeolian Scimitar), but are the others? It'd make sense for the Bloody Cesti Covers, Bloody Axe Head, and Bloody Grimoire Binding to be, but I'm pretty sure the Pinprick Pebble isn't...

(And they should all be r55, which is the same as the Silver Bazaar items)

As long as it says "Bloody", it's desynthable.

BSM => Bloody Bardiche Head, Bloody Lance Head, & Bloody Knife Blades.
LTW => Bloody Cesti Covers, & Bloody Grimoire Binding.
    CRP => Bloody Bow Rim.

As Wanderer's Palace (Normal) is fairly easy to solo on any class up to the second boss (which gives you all the chests that drop these items), it could potentially be cheaper overall depending on how much someone wants to run WP.

Of course, a crafter could then also turn the Aeolian Scimitar and Pinprick into their precursor relics for desynthing, this way too. For BSM and GSM.
