It can, but it's a very inefficient source of Fieldcraft IIIs... As WVR, you're much better off with the cushions.

Ok I'm currently 93 GSM and I've been doing the garden ponds and carbuncle chromometers. I can verify that both give out fieldcraft 3's. Sometimes in bundles of 2. Ive noticed that the Garden Ponds are the best way to go if you are in a pinch and have access to mining and house merchants. The Kobold mart is great for mats as well. Hope this helps and I'll post a screenshot the next time I do it.

Yeah just dusted off a Garden Pond and got one these beauties.

Sprung me to GSM 100 as well.
Is there a reason why
Carpenter
Alchemist
Leatherworker
Were left out of being able to obtain Mastercraft Demimateria?
I guess the game punishes people that don't max out every crafting class?

While the ponds are not a bad idea, last I checked, Garden Ponds cost twice as much to make as Carbuncle Chronometers, and they should drop the exact same items. Of course, Tawny Latex (Terminus Putty) is a little expensive on my server (7k each, where the emery is only 10k each)...Ok I'm currently 93 GSM and I've been doing the garden ponds and carbuncle chromometers. Also, OP updated with some extra info. I now recommend leveling GSM to 75 using Aetheryte Rings, and then switching to quad-melded Gold Spectacles (I did the math, and four melds is best). You will only have a 45% chance to start, but at least on my server, succeeding the melded i90 desynth is cheaper than making 10x HQ Spicy Tomato Relish and succeeding the i70 desynth. Also, you get maybe 0.1-0.2 exp from the Artisan's Spectacles. You get 0.5.-0.65 from the Gold Spectacles.
Before you hit 100 skill (somewhere in the 90s), you will have a 100% chance to desynth the Artisan's Spectacles. I'd wait until then to start grinding out the demimateria from them.

Just to note on GSM improvement.
I got 60-72 desynthesing Electrum needles & Tortoiseshell Armillae.
The point was to get the get enough demimateria to get all the 7 new master crafter books and an extra 30 fieldcraft demimateria to craft 3 new jewelry pieces.
So I focused on having 65 Fieldcraft I and 35 Battlecraft I
Just a bit cheaper before going to Aetheryte Rings desynths
Great guide thanks! Just a tip for anyone doing LTW ... At 50 you can start desynthing Legionary Visors which drop from Garlean Mobs... there was a tonne of em for cheap on my server and I bought loads of em before people caught on and bumped up the price![]()

Just wanted to point out (while I have no SS for proof, only my word), I actually managed to get back the Sarnga Limb from desynthesizing a Sarnga. Perhaps the chances are incredibly low and rng gods smiled upon me? It was just a test i70 desynth I was trying as I continue to level up, I have desynth'd two more Sarngas unable to reproduce the result, but I have gotten one.You can only get one type of item back from desynthing (along with some shards or crystals). However, you can get multiple of these items, up to a maximum of the number it takes to craft it. So, if an item requires 3x Darksteel Nuggets but nothing else to craft it, you can get back 1, 2, or 3 Darksteel Nuggets from desynthing it. If instead it takes 1x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Rose Gold Nugget, and 1x Spruce Plywood, you can only ever get a single one of these back, and only 1x of it. This means that items with fewer types of materials are generally cheaper to use when leveling than items with many types of materials.

You forgot i70 astrolabe clinometer is also desynthable.

Could someone help me out real quick? I just need some datapoints to finalize the desynth chance formula, which will help me determine the cheapest desynths at various skill levels for maximum experience gain. I need random datapoints of desynth success chances with skill levels 25-65 for any ilvl item. Please give me the item name and not just the ilvl, because I'm fairly sure it goes off crafting level, not item level or equip level (but I'm not certain yet).
So far, at the high levels, I've noticed that if your desynth chance is 15-28.5 or 70-98.5 for a given clevel, increasing your desynth skill by 1 point increases your chances by 1.5%. If your desynth chance is in the 30-68 range for a given clevel, increasing your desynth skill by 1 point increases your chances by 2%. Same thing for going down in clevel. If you have 77.5% chance at i70, you'll have a 70% chance at i75, a 92.5% chance at i60, and a 40% chance at i90.
My current formula is:
(DesynthSkill + 30 - CraftLevel) = dScore
If dScore < 0, success = 0%
If dScore < 20, success = (dScore*1.5)%
If dScore < 40, success = (30 + (dScore-20)*2)%
If dScore < 60, success = (70 + (dScore-40)*1.5)%
If dScore >= 60, success = 100%
This seems to work at high levels, but I know low levels use a different formula that can give values like 37.8, which this formula can't do.
