OP still needs to be updated that Ramuh gear is desynthable, which wasn't in the patch notes but I posted the confirmation on earlier.

I desynthed level 57 dungeon gear last night (I was running the Vault, only dupes of stuff I already had would drop, and my party kept all-passing, so I just started breaking then greeding <_<). I obtained:
(all LTW r142)
Halonic Friar's Hose - Dhalmel Leather (6 Wind Crystals, 4 Earth Crystals)
Halonic Friar's Hose (#2) - Battlecraft Demimateria II
Halonic Friar's Jackboots - Dhalmel Leather
Halonic Vicar's Gloves - Dragon Leather
I also realized it would be forever before I leveled AST:
Muspell (GSM r136) - Hardsilver Nugget (4 Fire Crystals, 2 Wind Crystals)
So, it seems that the dungeon gear ALSO drops BC2s, not 3s. At least, the pre-60 dungeon gear.
Sorry, but I don't believe in Ramuh. If I acknowledge him, I'll have to also acknowledge his beard, and that beard intimidates and frightens me. <_<

So... is there an easier way to level up BSM desynth now? I'm currently at around 85 and leveling it to 100 so I can start desynthing the new stuff is just awful. Is my best bet still going to be Artisan tools or is there a better way?
I just had to power through it by torturing my friends by having them make a ton of Summoning Bells for me. The materials are almost nothing nowadays, although Scarlet Sap might be your limiter. I started at 81.34 BSM skill, and 40 Bells later I'm at 95.84. I predicted I would need about 76 Bells, and I'm surprised at how somewhat close I was. It really is that awful. I think I had better than normal luck too, but I was using HQ "Tinker's Bacon" for each of them.
Also, I haven't been recording what I got from dungeon gear, but it's very clear to me that everything is reset. Just like how in ARR you got BCII from pre-50/early 50 dungeon gear and then BCIII from later 50 dungeon gear, the same appears to be true with Heavensward items from 50-60. I really hope they haven't forgotten about Desynthesis and will update everything in 3.1 or something because you can still get BCIII from the same ARR dungeons, right? -_- I'm still holding out for Battlecraft Demimateria IV for special crafted items in 3.1.

That's insanity. To make a Summoning Bell on Gilgamesh, it's like 40k per combine... and then where is the return? Feeling really unmotivated to level Desynth right now. >_>I just had to power through it by torturing my friends by having them make a ton of Summoning Bells for me. Whoops, I mixed up the numbers. I went from 81.34 to 91.75 with 40 Summoning Bells. Sorry, it's even worse.
The materials themselves shouldn't be a lot of money, but I think you should be prepared to spend about 200K total. After that, you need to find someone willing to spend a bunch of time making them. Making them is easy, but it is a little time-consuming.
To be honest, desynthesis is crazy. The only reason I'm doing BSM is because I'm expecting new primal Demimateria that'll serve the same purpose it did in ARR. I was behind last time and missed out on making millions of gil from it, so I just gave up at 81 skill, but if they do it again, I'll be ready this time.

First of all, if I say something is cheap on my world and it isn't on yours, you might not want to use it... The bells were about 10k each for me, which I consider cheap. However, with tanked demi prices, that's hardly profitable. I actually went from 88 BSM to 93 just yesterday and it wad super painful even with cheap-ish mat prices.I'm hoping to make the gil back from desynthing cheap quest weapons.... Unless someone beats me there.

So, here I am, with a BSM Desynth level in that painful range where there is nothing storebought that I can use - too low for the i115 stuff from HW, too high for stuff sold in ARR.
So, after handing in my daily GC hand ins for crafting, I try buying a Flame Lieutenant's Katzbalger. I was able to desynth it (its an i55 weapon) and got 0.1 Desynth skill. That's not what caught my attention.
I got 1 Fire Crystal, 2 Earth Crystals, and 4 Clear Demimateria 2's.
I did not know it was possible to get more than 3 of any one demimateria type from an item?
Well, I don't consider clears to be demimateria exactly. They follow diffetent rules than the BCs and FCs.
I'll fill out BSM in my database soon. That'll tell me if there are better options.
