Leveled LTW from 0 to 124 today.

Bridesmaid is not that great on my server, since Field3 has crashed in just two days and sells for 20k or so now. Spruce wood and Hyppo leather have compensated the costs.
I've started buying Archaeoskin Belts since 94d skill, with NQ bacon and Tinker it was 20ish percent. Out of about 40 successful desynths I had 0.9 gain 1-2 times, 0.8 about 20 times and the rest were 0.6 and 0.4.

I strongly recommend to not buy from npc merchant and check marketplace first. 115 and 125 equipment goes as main quest rewards and players often sell 115-125ilvl equipment for 1-2k!

Archaeoskin stuff mostly desynths into rainbow thread (3k) and Archaeoskin leather (30k). I expect leather price to crash as it is too easy to get and Archaeoskin equipment is somewhat pointless, with quest rewards and all.

Spent about 2-3 million overall, stuff that I got worth maybe 1.5-2kk, much more if not for Field3 price crash

Going to level carpented and culinarian/fisher next.

Yeah, FC3s are no longer required for crafter progression, so it makes sense that they're tanking. I'm so sad none of the new stuff uses demimateria (with trivial exceptions) I'll update the LTW note next time I update the guide. Still, 6k for an i70 item isn't that bad. You have to get up high enough to do the r115 stuff somehow.

Archaeornis Leather is so expensive relative to other new things largely because the skin is a pain to get right now. The enemies that drop it do so pretty rarely. I killed twenty and only one dropped the skin, though it did drop three. Compared to items that are mined or harvested, this is far, far slower - I obtained 60 Mythrite Sand (12 nuggets worth) in the time it took me to get 3 Archaeornis Skins (1 leather worth). The leather also takes Coerthan Tea Leaves, which appear to only be from an unspoiled node, unlike the base mats for other classes which take stuff from non-unspoiled. The easiest way to get it seems to be desynth, actually. The leaves are also needed for the next level of leather. Why couldn't they have given us seeds for the tea leaves too? No new items can be grown in gardens...

So, everyone who is an LTW desynther and reading this thread, capitalize on desynthing the belts right now before the price of leather tanks. You can get them for only 9k from vendors if the MB prices are higher than 9k. The belts are r115, can drop up to two leather, and only have one other ingredient. You should be able to make much more than they cost as you level to ~140 dSkill, just like we did with the Bridesmaid's Sandals. Just, uhh, if you're on Faerie, don't do this before I can <_<

So, it seems that the way to tell what's r115 and what's r120 for the c51 items is to look at the "Difficulty" of the craft. Items with 339 Difficulty are r115, and items with 421 Difficulty are r120. As a side-note, it seems the levels listed in XIVDB for the recipes are the "rlvl"s that I've been referring to. They have "Agate Ring of ..." as "recipe level 115" and "Yeti Staff" as "recipe level 120".

Vath vendor sells i125 belts for 9,9k, they give wyrmskin leather and rainbow thread.

I'm doing fisher now and there's an alternative way of leveling from d50.
Instead of trying to fish i55 and other rare stuff I simply purchase (MB) and desynth sky fish (Cloud Cutter, Cloud Jellyfish, Skyfish, Rift Sailor). It cost as low as 10 gil and gives useless stuff + Water and Wind crystal (worth 150-350 gil atm).
Fish gives about 0.10-0.15 at d60 and have ~74% chance to succeed.

For Leatherworking, the Moogle vender near Zenith has some belts in Field gear that only cost 7100-ish gil that you can use at the higher levels to boost. I don't think you can Desynth until around 125 or so with any decent regularity I am 140 ish and it still gives .2 to .3 per desynth. Will get percentage when I get home.

It gives Wyvern Leather and Mythrite Ingots.

There are also Weaver and I believe goldsmith items there for low prices.

Results are:
Skill level 141 Chance for desynthesis 66% .18-.26 gain
Skill level 143 Chance 70% still seeing about .18-.24 gain

So I've desynthed the last two dungeons weaver item drops, and they give both holy ramie thread and chimerical felt.

Also something important I've noticed is that all of the currently available desynthisizable gear has only yielded Battlecraft Demimateria 2 or Fieldcraft Demimateria 2 (etc)

I'm assuming, because this is odd, that there will be gear in the future with much more profitable yields and perhaps a continuation of the "exclusive to desynth" demimateria, or something like it.

They're holding back on the goodies, if all we can get is demimateria 2 right now.
They may just be blocking it's acquisition for the moment like they are with the Materia Tier V's.

That's just how I feel about it.

I'll be very surprised if Thav Silk isn't from the highest maps, just like Dress Materials were from Peisteskins. I don't expect it to be from desynthing, but maybe they'll be nice and throw us stuff we can desynth to get it as well. Chances are that we currently cannot get it from desynthing, but in a later update, an f60*** fish will have it.


So, the new dungeon gear drops BC2s, not BC3s? Or do you mean the crafted stuff? I haven't made it through the story yet, but anyone know if the items dropped by the new Extreme Primals are desynthable? Or HM, if those drop weapons? I'm really hoping that the new primal stuff is not desynthable, so in a later patch they can give us more Primal demis. There are no new demis at all in the game's item list according to datamining sites, so if those items are desynthable now, chances are extremely high that they will not add those demis later.

I'm not that far in, well, anything yet. Despite this thread, I tend to just derp around in game and do stuff super slow xD How valuable are Holy Ramie Thread and Chimeric Felt? Are those craftable?

I don't understand why they would "block" FC3s/BC3s. FC3s at least are now pretty worthless. BC3s are tanking as well. Having so many more ways to get them while not adding new things that require them really hurts those markets. I mean, there are a few new i95 Bright Primal weapons, but that's about it for BC3s and those are pure glam.

18k, 59k. Probably craftable, but you need to unlock 56-60 item recipes tab first.

I can corroborate what Gil is saying, and to answer your question:

It does feel strange, because you're progressing through the highest level items for Desynth and Crafting in 3.0 now, and yet, it's Tier II demimaterias?! Strange.

Err, yes, I'm well aware you get BC2s/FC2s from crafted gear. Level 50 crafted gear gives BC2s also, as does 50* gear. It's not until 50** that we started being able to make items we could desynth into 3s. It makes some logical sense that we won't get 3s again until we can make 60** and higher items. Weird, but follows a consistent pattern, I guess.

I was asking about dungeon gear, especially from the level 60 dungeons. Are you both saying that dungeon gear also gives BC2s/FC2s and not 3s? That would be inconsistent, in my opinion...
