I didn't know that! Thanks! Not sure if anyone has posted this, didn't catch mention of it in the last few pages, but I desynthed my Allagan gloves of casting and got 4x Allagan silk so LTW desynth is potentially useful even for Weavers.
Demimateria being required for so much crafter progression stuff is the absolute worst thing and probably one of the few things i despise in this game, please don't do this anymore in the expansion SE.Have you gotten Allagan Leather too, or just the silk?

I only had one pair of gloves so unfortunately I can't answer that. I'm going to assume they can produce leather just because they are a leather desynth and them not using leather in their creation would be weird =P
Whats a good skill level to start in on doing Artisan Specs? I have all the mats needed to make ~60 of them (and the skills to turn any nuggets back into more) and wondering if I should wait till my skill level is higher. I'm currently at 74.46 desynth skill.
Not really looking forward to spamming dungeons for the i70 jewelry.
Personally, I'd wait until 100 skill where your chances are 100%. When my skill dropped down to 99.99, I failed one out of six desynths and it really pissed me off. Never doing artisan spec desynth again with under 100 skill :PWhats a good skill level to start in on doing Artisan Specs? For you, well, it's up to you. How much do you like gambling? Remember that you only have a ~16.67% chance of getting one MCD every time you successfully desynth. At 100 skill, that's 6 specs for 1 MCD (theoretically). At 74 skill, your chances are only 58%, so that would be about 10.3 specs per MCD. If you're going for 10 MCDs, would you rather craft 103 specs now, or level up your skill and only have to make 60 specs later? If you don't find crafting the prereqs to be onerous, you might as well start now. If you do find it annoying, get your skill up first.
For GSM, have you looked into using the new glasses that take Garlean items? They should be a good starting point for you, if the materials are reasonably priced on your server. You also get FC3s from them, which are never a bad thing.

Came here to post similar so I'll just piggyback off this, I desynthed my Allagan Gloves of Maiming (DRG i90, ARM desynth) and received 4 Allagan Leather. A most pleasant surprise because Allagan Wootz Nugs are worth about 2k on my server right now. I blew up my Striking gloves so I couldn't say if they yield the nuggets also or just leather, but now that I know this I would love to farm more. Too bad no one wants to run Turn 2. Myself included.
Desynthed Allagan Cane and got hq wootz ingot ez money.
the only problem ill face is am 76 already and is HARD to find a party for hard dungeons ppl are going straight to latest ones
I was wondering, is there any new "shortcuts" to take BSM desynth past militia scythes? I did not stack much primal weapons, and I would hate farming them...
The fastest way is likely: join a Nexus Light LS, and spam whatever HM primal is giving bonus light at that moment (except Titan, since you can't desynth titan items with BSM). Do them as a class that can roll need on BSM-desynthable gear.
If you really hate spamming HM primals, then your next best bet is to farm T5 if you can do that. If you can't do that either, well, go for summoning bells? BSM isn't cheap at the moment to get past 78 skill. Oh, and you can get to at least 78 skill with i55 equipment.

Not really a short cut, but you could do Frontlines and buy the Gladiator swords. Two guarranteed meld slots and i70. They can drop BCIIIs, you don't have to roll against anyone and you get a good amount of Soldiery and Poetics from them. I'm probably going to do that to about 85 or 90 and then do Summoning Bells as Nyalia suggested. T5 is a good option too. About half the weapon drops are BSM.
