Holy necro from a time before the mount and minion descriptions, and chocobo racing were in the game.If you read the chocobo mount entry in-game, it states lalafell ride jennets which is used in term of either a female donkey or a small spanish horse. Unless Spain exists, then the ones lalafell ride are female donkey-type chocobo.
Additionally, race chocobo can be male or female, you choose the gender ticket upon getting the quest.

haha what a thread to necro, but I do have to say it was pretty weird they don't bring up your chocobo's gender until you take it out of the stable. I was kinda shocked myself.

I'm sorry if I wasn't supposed to respond to such a dead thread.I only joined the game late last year and found this thread while searching if the same terminology applied to chocobos as they are with horses. I haven't found anything saying otherwise yet so lalafell get female "donkey" chocobo. If genetics are the same then the reason jennets are permitted through is because their offpsring with standard and draught chocobo can't breed. In real life, mules and hinnies (donkey/horse hybrids) are sterile so if a breeding male DID slip through, it wouldn't hurt the chocobo trade because the offspring would be sterile, of course implying the genetics system is the same for chocobo.
