Like I said before, if the Roe in OP's post actually volunteered to wear that, then clearly there is no problem. But there are glamours for other, more masculine pieces if that is a serious concern. However, if all endgame gear were to look differently on a female character vs. a male character, then that can be a very serious problem, especially when a female character would prefer to wear the male version or vice-versa.

I mean, maybe it's just me, but I think the only people who actually want gear to look different depending on gender are the same types of people who want a chance to oggle strangers who might not necessarily want to be oggled at.

...and SE hasn't re-used gear designs since 2.1. Everything from 2.2 onwards has been original designs.

I do agree with those sets. I mean each armor design takes time and development so maybe at some point SE would implement something like that. Currently right now, dresses and swimsuits, Darkhold gear are closes to what you're looking at.

I like how it is now. If you want to dress sexy, you can with both genders. I don't want to be locked to just dressing sexy or having very limited options if I don't want to. This doesn't just affect female characters though, it would affect male characters as well as they would only have fully clothed variants of gear and nothing sexy. I disapprove of both.

I think you missed my "free for all" glamour part. If a female wants the male stuff, glamour it or vice versa. At least we'd have a choice. What "new" design whould you suggest this Roegadyn glamours it to since there has been tons of new sets since 2.1? xD

As for gear being re-used. They either re-use, cross-job-design gear, or have i90 PvP have the same gear as new i90 PvE gear. The list goes on and on.

I'm glad it its the way its is. While gear sets that are different for genders can be fun (I thought that the dancer af in XI was fantastic), I like the fact that the default tank armor for my pld makes her look like a tank. The principle that a tank is a tank and defaults to looking like a tank and a mage is a mage and defaults to looking like a mage regardless of gender is one of the things I really like in this game. When I feel like tanking in a mini skirt and a metal bikini I can glamour a mini skirt and metal bikini (which I have done sometimes). If I feel like healing in a metal bikini and armored boots I can do that also.

Why shouldn't a male Roegadyn playing a mage look like a mage? If a male character wants to look more macho then they can glamour it. I love all things glamour and love new designs for glamour, but SE releases a few new designs each patch, so eventually there will be tons of options. I hate the Daystar armor's appearance so my healers have been glamoured into Vanya's since I started using it, and probably will be until I get High Allagan. Other people I know love the Daystar set. People have different tastes. The glamour system exists to let people customize there appearance from the standards, the standards tend to be the same for everyone, unless there is some reason for it.

I'm all for having more options available through glamour, but I like the defaults the way they are.

I think there has been a misunderstanding here. This thread, to my understanding, is about making it so gear equipped to one gender has one appearance, and the exact same gear equipped to another gender has a completely different appearance. It has absolutely nothing to do with making new styles on new gear.

As for new glamours, let's start with the following sets:

    2.2 WHM Gear

    Pilgrim's Robe
    Cashmere Robe of Healing
    Weathered Daystar Robe*
    High Allagan Coat of Healing*

    2.25

    Swansgrace Coat

    2.3

Serpent Elite's Robe* / Storm Elite's Robe* / Flame Elite's Shawl* (Depending on which Grand Company you belong to.)
    Robe of the Divine Harvest*

That's all of the chest gear released in the past two full patches that WHMs can wear that isn't "All Classes" or are direct upgrades of earlier gear which would completely justify a similar style(i.e. "Augmented" gear and gear that can be upgraded through use of Sands of Time). Not included is the Scylla's Robe of Healing, because that's what's being debated right now. The gear with the stars next to them are my personal recommendations for glamour, which is purely my own personal opinion.

The only piece of gear that I think would look similar to anything from the past is the Cashmere Robe of Healing, which looks similar to a robe dropped in Sastasha/Tam-Tara Deepcroft/Copperbell Mines. The only difference is that, because the Cashmere Robe is craftable, it is also dyable, justifying it as a design copy.

Wow... some of those armour sets look awesome. I wish we had sets like that in this game. D: I agree...almost all mage sets are made for females and almost all armour sets are for males. If they don't want to make two versions of each set, maybe they should take turns making sets for certain genders.

I think we're on the same page with a slight different opinion regarding gear choices.

I already mentioned that gear is either cross-job or even cross-content. Like the Cashmere Robe of Healing which is just a copy paste of i90 PvP healer gear.

You can't glamour i100 to something higher, so high allagan is no option. Wheatered is an option, but with how Sands aren't that hard to get now.. Pilgrim's Robe is cross-job, FC gear is for all casters. Only the Swansgrace Coat is for WHM. What is it, rank 38 PvP? Takes a nice grind to get there, even with FL.

Just wanted to emphasize that when you look closely, the options are minimal. I just vouch for more options so we don't all end up looking the exact same. At least no cross job sets (why I love AF and the augmented option they gave us).

I wish we had more outfits that resemble some of those designs.

Some of the casting outfits are so awful in this game, I either look like a bloated pig or it just doesn't look good. I like stuff to fit on my character but not to show every inch of skin. I hope each patch they keep releasing more vanity. As for the gender differences, I'm kind of on both sides. Some things look bad on females and some things look bad on males.
