I prefer the more unisex thing XIV has going on than large differences.
It's great that most of the skimpy stuff is skimpy on both sexes too.

And here I thought you were complaining because of that awful chest piece on male. I want to show off my children-like, nipple-less manboobs!
Those designs look good but they would be terrible in game. I actually want them to stop changing gear based on gender. If you're gonna make slutty gear, let us all be the sluts we were meant to be. The ST healher body looks awful on males right now.
I like the mostly consistent look of armor between genders/ races in this game. It seems like a lot of unnecessary work to design the same armor to be different on different characters when you could just as easily take those multiple designs and make them into multiple sets of armor. With the glamour system and more and more patches coming at least the problem of everyone looking the same is melting away.
Overall I like that most of the armor leans much more heavily toward realism than in a typical MMO. Of course we do have supernaturally glowing weapons, but at least we don't have mysteriously floating bits of armor that may of may not be perpetually on fire. Having females wear armor that affords them the same protection as the male counterpart is a sensible extension of this to me.
While Aion (I'm sure that is Aion) style armor has no place here, one can't deny that the armor doesn't lack the wow factor. I can appriciate their decision; their use of fantasy armor and the like is a strong suit and one somewhat missed in ffxiv. (All armor here has to also look functiomal, therefore they tend to come in predictable forms) not going to touch that female/male armor debate because frankly eff it.

I'd be okay with more armors that look different between male and female, I just don't want every set to end up overly-sexualized.
I just don't want my boobs spilling out or 90% of my skin showing for every outfit ever if they start doing this.

There's a lack of Elins in this thread
I actually find that Roeg to be rather FABULOUS.

I have to say that style actually is a big part of why I've played Japanese MMOs over Western/Korean MMOs. Maybe it's their reserved approach to equipment over how the others do it (as is beautifully illustrated in this thread). My biggest complaint is how it's not total equipment equality. In 1.# and even in 2.# I refuse to wear the White Mage culottes. In 1.# I had materia'd some pants (the culottes were replaceable anyway so no loss) and with glamour I have them 'replaced' with a spring skirt (and yes, I know what's under the spring skirt, unlike alot of robes it goes down to the feet so I don't mind). But sometimes when Square releases gender specific attire I get a little jealous at the male outfits. Like Snow's coat... T,T
To be honest I myself don't mind how it is. I see enough changes in both armors to tell which one is male and which one is female. I'd honestly perfer having the male Dragoon look over female though. I love having a giant gaping hole where my stomach is so people can see my bellybutton. >.> Also that picture is the funniest thing I've seen all morning. Just.. that Roe is standing there with that face is hilarious, I can't stop laughing. XD

My opinion is that armour for female characters can look sexy and functional. Nothing wrong with both. But if I can only have one. I want functional. (My propensity for replacing the trousers on my PLD with a glamoured skirt notwithstanding. The rest of her armour is perfectly fine.) Also, sexy doesn't have to mean "shows more skin than clothing" My Scholar is wearing the CT1 robe and her myth skirt and boots and she looks sexy IMO. Though cloth-wearing classes generally don't have the same issues as armoured ones.
I don't have an opinion on male gear, because I never play male characters anymore.
Lastly - Add more impractical, sexy and/or silly items as glamour. The people who want them will get them (well, assuming you don't hide them behind 3 star crafting walls), the people who don't won't. Case in point. I don't like Scylla's gear, I think it looks dumb on any character. If others like it and want to wear and show it off, fine with me.
