Keep in mind that sometimes you have to pick doing a dungeon with friends over doing a dungeon you want to do. Don't be afraid to say "Hey, PersonX, we need a dps for DungeonX, you want to come with when you're out of Hullbreaker?" But also, don't be upset if they say no. Just say "no problem" and move on.

Do you have more than one class type leveled? Being able to fill more than one role will enable you to join more parties.

Yes, I have everything to Lv50 except for Warrior and Dragoon. I can go as WHM, SCH, BLM, SMN, or BRD, but I haven't tried MNK in ARR and I'm sure I would be a horrible PLD. ^^;

I don't think I'm too picky and will gladly help out a friend to do content even if there's nothing I need from it.

Your issue is a very common one among ALL servers. I've been around since 2.0 and I can understand what it feels like. They add new content, but it is not all THAT readily available. This might sound an odd suggestion, but you should stop trying to see the game as a progression game until new content comes out. Everyone has different tastes and can find all sorts of new stuff fun and enjoyable.

I, for instance, use the market as my pvp battleground! It is a load of fun to fight over profits!

If you aren't having fun, try looking for a more fun based FC. Some even try to gain access to the new higher level content and are on the same level as you. All in all, you need to just view the game as a means for fun and look for fun directly. My FC never does the same progression, but we ask for help and just try to have fun even if it's random. Sometimes fun includes watching Ragnheider strip down to a subligar and chase our neighbor into his house while doing some unholy act of twisted emote combinations.

Fun will come if you search for it, just don't feel limited to what you can search. There's a lot more out there than you will notice.

Have you tried leveling up crafting and gathering classes? Maybe it's not your thing, but a couple of weeks before 2.3 went live, I was basically stuck - I had really not much left to do in terms of progress as I had given up on Titan EX and was waiting for more Echo in T5, so the only thing left do to was beast tribe quests and Atma books. I decided to seriously start leveling up my DoL/DoH clases and it's like I rediscovered the game and Eorzea. Those weeks before 2.3 came I woldn't even change in DoM gear except to get a couple of skins from mobs to turn into leather. Give it a chance if you feel like it.

Hey Faedra, I've seen you running around Ul'dah a few times, me and a friend just transferred to Balmung from Sarg for the same reasons as you. I just came back after a break I started after defeating Levi EX for the first time. I have minimal desire to advance through end game content. I instead travel the world and take candid shots of players, upload them right away and send them a link. It's been A LOT of fun and it helps me break out of my shell and socialize with people. It's been a very rewarding experience and I've met some good people.

Honestly I always find the make or break of an MMO is whether or not I get involved in a good small community. Running dungeons with randoms for the gear scramble gets boring quickly.

That said if you just don't like the game right now try something else for a bit and see if you get the urge to come back!
