I'll offer my 2 cents here.

I've been playing for nearly a year. For the last 7 weeks, I have not felt motivated to log in to the game, other than to do my daily expert Dungeon Roulette, and for raid nights.

I have decided to resign from my static earlier this week.

Note - they are not bad people. In fact, they're a really casual bunch, and I really enjoyed playing with them. The reason I am quitting is because...I no longer find the game fun.

At the moment, I am kind of just drifting around. I have been spending time working on my Steam backlog these days outside of daily raid hours, and recently, another group of friends have invited me to play Payday 2 (great game by the way) with them.

It's come to a point where I find nothing in FF fun anymore. I haven't tried any of the new content, but right now I'm tired of doing gauntlet runs (ie. learning how to Ramuh EX). If that is the case, may I suggest you do what I plan to do, and take a break from the game. What I probably need is some 8 - 12 weeks break, I might find it fun again then.

But until then, here is where my love relationship with FFXIV ends (for now, perhaps). I still have 2.5 months of subscription left, and I might just log in casually, maybe just to say hi to some people.

Looks like Welsper gave you the best answer in general.

    To add:

I'm on Balmung as well. If it's RP you're looking for, your going to be screwed going anywhere else. Balmung is your best bet as the second biggest RP server (Gilgamesh) is beginning to fade since the server transfers opened up. I don't have the time or patience to RP with my playstyle quite yet but I'm one of those people that just love coming across it every once in awhile. It brings the world to life and I don't think that's available anywhere else. You know what is available everywhere else? everything that's available on Balmung minus the increased chances of roleplay. I've even had some British friends that came back to Balmung because they thought a more Euro centric server would serve their time constraints better and it didn't seem to be the case.

The RP aspect of Besaid > Balmung had an indirect, albeit significant, impact on the server's diverse population, from those like me who prefer to view it from the outside to the hardcore roleplayers at hydaelyn roleplayers to those that despise RP for whatever reason.

Jumping servers I don't think will fix your problem.

Figuring out what you want from the game should be first and foremost.
Finding out how to experience those things would be the next.

You may just need a break. I just recently burnt myself out on Twintania then took a two to three week break but now I've been renewed by all the new content. The grind burns a lot of people out. Breathe.

A thought: Perhaps work on a different aspect of the game, for now? If working at your combat classes isn't fulfilling, try a class of a different role. I began working on levelling archer about a month back because I needed some cross-class skills; I soon discovered I actually was really having fun with it. Before I knew it, bard was my latest level 50 class and is now i69. (I'm working on my animus staff right now so I haven't been buying myth/soldiery gear for archer.)
If that doesn't work, maybe take up crafting, or even go for mastery on a gathering class? There's a lot of different aspects to the game; if what you're trying isn't appealing anymore, maybe the best thing to do is stop that aspect and give a different one a fresh new look.

I find myself in a similar boat. I started at the beginning of v1 and played practically every single night until it went down. I eagerly awaited ARR and have spent most of my nights in Eorzea since re-launch... but it's just not fun anymore.

I really want to love this game again. I have met some really great people and have some really great memories of things we did together... but almost all of that is from v1 ~ 1.23.

ARR basically killed the community we had from v1 because it's just so convenient and easy to go off and do your own thing with a random group of people. Our old LS/FC is still there but we hardly play together anymore. I've met nice people since the start of ARR, but there is very to make the bonds of friendship stronger.

I'm a healer main and I want to play with and support my friends, not random people who I will probably never see again. So I usually choose to wait and not do content until I can do it with people I enjoy being with. But because of that, most of the time I find myself just sitting there in Limsa... waiting... with everyone coming in and out of DF at different times, and never getting 8 friends together. It's like herding cats... and most of our LS are Hyur and Lalafell, and I'm the Miqo'te!

I really wanted to love this game... but maybe I'm just too selfish for wanting to play with my friends. Maybe it's just not for me anymore. Maybe it's time to stop.

I don't think anyone has pointed this out specifically...

You're on a new server; you're going to feel adrift for a while until you find friends and a good FC. This isn't a fast process. You'll want to put forth the effort to find rp groups that are accepting new people. Hang out in bars and other populated areas until you start to become familiar with some faces. See what direction the rp is going and perhaps contribute informally.

Until you find decent people to go with to endgame, try not to stress about it and level those other classes that pique your interest.

Adapting is going to take time, be patient and good luck.

This may seem a bit too obvious and I apologize if so, but have you thought about organizing this stuff yourself rather than waiting on others? I spend most of my in game time trying to organize parties for myself and FC mates and it can be hard going sometimes when people want to do different things and they all have different schedules. Something I've noticed though, when I say "Hey guys, I think you're awesome and we should go kill Mog or something. What do you want to do? Do you have anything you need to do for an atma book or anything? It's better to go with friends. ", two things will happen: 1: They say "Oh, didn't realized you wanted to hang out." 2. "Yeah, sure!"

Thank you. That's a great idea and probably the best way to go about it.

I've tried to get people together on many occasions, and it does work at times. But I guess everyone is just so used to going into DF these days and no one really wants to wait around.

What usually happens is we'll get a few people together, but while waiting for others to come out of DF, someone will say "I'll just go do ___ while we wait." Then someone comes out of DF, but that previous person is now occupied.

I don't blame them for wanting to do something rather than wait around. It's a lot more convenient that v1 was. Theme park, after all.

I think I'm just the odd one who would rather do nothing than play solo or play in parties where everyone else might as well be an NPC.

But thank you again for the suggestion. ^^

Friends of mine in the FC said recently (when I asked them about dungeoning with friends) that they just "don't think about it" anymore cause the DF is right there. I only go with people I know, this is why I'm more keenly aware of it.

Keep in mind that sometimes you have to pick doing a dungeon with friends over doing a dungeon you want to do. Don't be afraid to say "Hey, PersonX, we need a dps for DungeonX, you want to come with when you're out of Hullbreaker?" But also, don't be upset if they say no. Just say "no problem" and move on.

Do you have more than one class type leveled? Being able to fill more than one role will enable you to join more parties.

That's odd. I keep hearing about that show on my server as well.

Try something else you've never done, like Frontlines. Find a circle of friends to play with, friends make even the most monotonous things seem bearable especially if you talk about random stuff or just plain goof off.

If I hit a brick wall, I just go play something else on the side so I don't get completely burned out.

But if nothing is "fun" anymore, it might be time to move on and come back later after another patch or preferably when entire servers stop tripping each over over hunts and actually start doing other things other than ST and hunts.

You'll just get more and more frustrated as time goes on playing something you want to be fun but actually isn't.
