It is a combination of mats dropping from boss chests, hunts giving far better tomes-to-time ratio, new dungeons not able to be speedrun-ed as fast as Brayflox could be, general rise in difficulty of new dungeons and last but not least, Sands of Time.

All those factors compounded together simply cause people to turn towards the hunts for better rewards for their time.
^This. I haven't run a dungeon in 2 days except Syrcus Tower for oil. Hunts/allied seals give way better rewards than any dungeon. The party finder is so dead on my server. In prime time it barely pushes 10 parties...some nights/evenings it doesn't push 10 parties lol.

Yes the worlds aren't barren anymore, but it's come at the cost of pretty much everything else being irrelevant now because of the hunts. Coil 2 and hunts are the only relevant piece of content imo. Which is sad because the new dungeon are really cool but...the rewards are so 'meh' especially with crafting materials constantly dropping
