Took down Odin last night.

It was a pretty epic lag fest, but none the less a ton of us did it. And I ended up getting 5 Odin Mantles!!
Woo I wonder what wicked gear I can get for my BLM...

Gratz! The only time I've seen Odin was a flicker through the fog if the mobs, then boom everyone dead. Quite amusing really.

I've fought him twice but wasn't lucky enough to get in a group so got nothing for it It seems you need to be in a group to get a decent drop. My friend on the other hand got in a group and did nothing as he was lagging so much and got gold o_O so yeah...

They certainly don't make being the "good Samaratin" worth it. I was in a party and everyone else got credit while I healed and kept them all alive. They got credit. I got chocobo poop. I was certainly inside the blast zone and had to run to the outside to take cover a few times. It was all I could do to keep two tanks going through all of Odin's AOE's.

I got to fight him last night as well. Was sitting around for the FATE for atma books and he popped. Was super laggy (even compared to my behemoth fight) but fun nonetheless. Was hilarious to see that many people run away from an AOE and then hear the screaming noises as everyone runs back towards him.

So I'm curious about something: I fought Odin about 2 weeks ago, and came in when he was about half way down on his HP. Afterwards, I was able to get 5 Odin Mantles. Then, a few days ago he spawned again, and I was actually there when the fight was initiated and stayed through the entire fight. This time however, no Odin Mantles at all. Are the mantles just a rare drop that you HAPPEN to get if the RNG favors you, or did I happen to do something different in the first fight that I'm not aware of? The only thing I can think of was that I WAS in a party the first time, but I'm not sure if that matters.
